There doesn't appear to be any end in sight for the woeful Texas Rangers, who let one slip away last time out.

The Chicago White Sox are coming off a forgettable result of their own.

Again trying to regroup, Texas tries to avoid a seventh consecutive road loss in Monday night's series opener against the White Sox.

The Rangers (43-68) own the worst record in baseball and have dropped 33 of 41. They have hit .214 with runners in scoring position over that stretch and went 3 for 21 while being swept at Cleveland over the weekend.

After being outscored 14-2 in the first two defeats, Texas lost 4-3 in 12 innings in Sunday's finale. Yu Darvish staked the Rangers to a lead with seven strong innings, but Neftali Feliz served up a tying two-run homer in the ninth as they lost for the 19th time in 22 road games.

"We put ourselves in position to win, but we just didn't close the game off," manager Ron Washington said. "We got the ball to the ninth inning and didn't get it done. I'm giving guys opportunities because I feel at some point, they're going to take advantage, but you have to execute pitches."

Leadoff hitter Shin-Soo Choo has scored twice over his last 22 games while hitting .179, and rookie second baseman Rougned Odor is 3 for his last 28.

The White Sox (54-58) are looking to avoid their third consecutive defeat following Sunday's 16-3 loss to Minnesota, their highest run total surrendered this year. Chicago's 23 hits allowed were its most since 2011.

"First of all, it's never fun to lose, and it's definitely never fun to get your butt kicked," catcher Tyler Flowers told MLB's official website. "But baseball's a nice game, tomorrow it's a fresh start. I'm not going to think about it after I get done talking to you guys. It's over."

The White Sox will try to bounce back behind Hector Noesi (5-8, 5.21 ERA), who surrendered six runs and a career-worst 10 hits over six innings in Wednesday's 7-2 loss at Detroit. The right-hander retired just one of the first nine batters he faced, dropping to 3-2 over his last five starts.

Noesi, who was designated for assignment following a brief stint with Texas earlier this year before joining Chicago, posted an 8.18 ERA in losing each of his two starts against the Rangers in 2012 with Seattle.

He will be opposed by rookie Nick Martinez (1-7, 5.08), who is 0-6 with a 7.45 ERA over his last eight outings. The right-hander was tagged for six runs over 5 2-3 innings in Tuesday's 12-11 defeat to the New York Yankees.

"He's got stuff, he just has to figure out how to use it and figure out how to get out of tough situations by making pitches," Washington said. "It's all about consistency. Being able to go out and consistently do it. That's when you've arrived."

Rookie Jose Abreu, who hit safely in 21 straight before going 0 for 7 over the last two games, has not gone hitless in three straight games since going 0 for 14 over four contests from April 15-18. He went 5 for 13 with a homer, two doubles and three RBIs as Chicago dropped two of three at Texas from April 18-20.

Chicago is 7-1 in its last eight against the Rangers at home.

White Sox leadoff hitter Adam Eaton is batting .455 with 13 runs scored over an 18-game stretch, hitting safely in the last 10.
