Preview: Rockies (0-0) at Diamondbacks (0-0)
BT Movements  ·  Line Movements
Game: 3
Venue: Chase Field
Date: August 10, 2014 4:10 PM EDT

Rookie David Peralta is a big reason why the Arizona Diamondbacks are on the brink of matching their longest winning streak against the Colorado Rockies.

Peralta looks to continue his impressive production against the lowly Rockies on Sunday when these NL West rivals complete a three-game series at Chase Field.

Peralta is hitting .321 with five homers and 29 RBIs in 56 games since being recalled from Double-A Mobile on June 1. He's been especially good against the Rockies, going 9 for 19 (.474) with four doubles, one triple, one homer, six RBIs and eight runs over five meetings.

Arizona (51-66) has won all of those games, extending its winning streak over Colorado (45-71) to six - one shy of its longest in the all-time series set from 2001-02.

Peralta, a pitcher in St. Louis' organization from 2006-08 before injuries forced him to change positions, went 3 for 5 with a grand slam during a nine-run eighth inning and finished with five RBIs in a 14-4 rout Saturday.

"Hitting is contagious," said Cliff Pennington, who was 3 for 4 with a double, an RBI and four runs. "It's just one of those where guys get a couple of hits, you feel good and things start to roll."

Facing the Rockies and the worst pitching staff in the majors also helps. The Diamondbacks are batting .359 with 13 homers and 56 runs over the last six meetings after collecting 15 hits Saturday.

Now, they'll face Wade Miley (7-8, 4.61 ERA), who is coming off perhaps the worst performance of his four-year career.

The left-hander was hammered for a career-high 10 runs and nine hits over 4 2-3 innings in a 12-2 home loss to Kansas City on Tuesday. That dismal performance came after he tossed 6 2-3 scoreless innings in a 5-4 win at Cincinnati six days earlier.

Miley is 1-6 with a 6.35 ERA in 12 home starts compared to 5-2 with a 3.00 ERA over the same amount of games on the road.

He struggled mightily at home against Colorado on April 28, surrendering seven runs and 10 hits - two homers - in six innings of an 8-5 loss.

Colorado has dropped 11 of 13 games, and is tied with Texas for the worst record in baseball after manager Walt Weiss called a team meeting earlier Saturday.

"I didn't say abracadabra or anything," Weiss said. "I didn't say any magic words. I just tried to give them some perspective on where we are at."

Franklin Morales (5-6, 5.08) is back in the rotation for the Rockies due to a back injury to Brett Anderson, who could be out for the season, according to MLB's official website.

Morales replaced the injured Anderson after the third inning Tuesday, and allowed one run and two hits before leaving following the sixth in a 6-5 loss in 12 to the Chicago Cubs.

The left-hander's previous five appearances were starts, and he went 1-2 with a 3.38 ERA while being backed by two runs or fewer in four of those outings.

Morales got plenty of help in his first start against Arizona in five years on April 28, allowing four runs in five innings opposite Miley.
