DENVER (AP) - In quieting the Colorado Rockies' bats, Jarrod Parker came out ahead by seldom falling behind.

Parker allowed three hits over seven scoreless innings and Brandon Moss drove in three runs, helping the Oakland Athletics beat the Rockies 8-2 on Thursday to complete a three-game sweep.

``He just came right at us and got strike one and when you're 0-1 like that, it's a lot easier for him to pitch,' Tyler Colvin said after the Rockies' lost their season-high eighth straight.

Parker (3-3) was bumped up a spot in the rotation due to Brandon McCarthy's sore shoulder. The righty allowed just three singles before being lifted after throwing an efficient 89 pitches. Parker struck out six and walked one.

``Their young kid was terrific,' Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. ``He threw strikes with all his pitches: two-seam, four-seam fastball. He had a really good changeup. His slider was very, very effective. We could do very little with him.'

The Rockies didn't score until the ninth, when Marco Scutaro hit a one-out homer off reliever Brian Fuentes. Colvin had an RBI double but it wasn't enough to prevent a winless homestand. The Rockies were swept in a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels and fell to 0-9 in interleague games this season.

``A dreadful homestand, no question about it,' Tracy said. ``A long road trip coming up. Hopefully, some of the things that are not right will be much better when we come back to play Washington.'

The Rockies embark on a nine-game, 10-day trip that includes stops in Detroit, Philadelphia and Texas before returning to Coors Field to host the Nationals in a four-game set starting June 25.

``Hope something changes,' said losing pitcher Alex White (2-5). ``We've got to do something different. Don't know what it is. We've got to find a way to win a game here and there, get on a streak, because this is tough to watch, tough to be a part of, and we're all sick of it.'

White went four innings and gave up seven hits and four runs, two earned. He struck out five and walked four and was dealing with a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand after the game. White said he frequently gets blisters in the same spot after pitching and said the blister was nothing to worry about.

``It's no big deal,' said.

Moss produced much of the offense for the A's. He hit his fifth homer in eight games, a solo shot to right-center in the ninth. He also had a two-run double in the third.

Josh Reddick added a solo shot into the second deck in right field, his 15th of the season.

The Rockies were also hurt by shoddy defense. They committed three errors and catcher Wilin Rosario had two passed balls.

``We're not playing well as a team right now,' Scutaro said. ``When we hit, sometimes we're not getting the pitching. Sometimes, when we pitch, we're not getting hits. We need to put things together, offense and defense. It doesn't matter who we play. We've just got to do our thing.'

The Rockies, though, may be without All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki a little longer as the team said he will undergo a precautionary MRI after aggravating a groin injury in a rehab assignment.

Tulowitzki took himself out of a game Wednesday at Triple-A Colorado Springs after feeling not quite right.

Tracy said Tulowitzki went through strength tests on Thursday morning at Coors Field and the MRI was simply because, ``they want to rule out anything that possibly could be missed just by visual observation.'

Tulowitzki is eligible to come off the DL on Friday in Detroit, but Tracy wasn't sure if he would make the trip with the team.

NOTES: There was a haze off in the distance from a massive northern Colorado wildfire. ... Colvin has six extra-base hits in his last five games. ... Rockies reliever Guillermo Moscoso threw three scoreless innings, giving up two hits. He walked two and struck out two.
