CHICAGO (AP) - One errant offering from Francisco Cordero proved costly for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Cordero's wild pitch in the ninth inning set up Orlando Hudson's game-ending single and the Blue Jays lost 4-3 to the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night.

Dayan Viciedo sparked the winning rally with a one-out single and advanced on the wild pitch to Alexei Ramirez, who flied out to center. Hudson then singled in the winning run, leaving Cordero (1-3) to lament his wild toss earlier in the inning.

``It was that pitch,' he said. ``He would have been at first and give up a base hit and it would probably be men on second and first and then you don't know what will happen there.'

Chicago avoided a sweep and improved to 15-4 in its last 19 games.

The Blue Jays had their chances. White Sox starter Jake Peavy walked five and hit a batter. Toronto left 10 men on base.

The White Sox pitched out of trouble with the game tied at three in the eighth and ninth. With Yunel Escobar on third with one out in the eighth, Nate Jones struck out Omar Vizquel and got Yan Gomes on a forceout. Addison Reed (1-1) struck out Kelly Johnson to end the ninth with Jose Bautista on second.

``We had some opportunities,' Blue Jays manager John Farrell said. ``Again the two-out hit was a little bit elusive. Peavy made a number of couple of big pitches to get out of jams.'

Peavy allowed three runs, two earned, in six-plus innings.

Toronto took a 3-1 lead with a three-run second. David Cooper and Escobar singled and scored on Mike McCoy's bases-loaded single. The Blue Jays added another run on an error by shortstop Ramirez. He made a diving stop on a grounder up the middle, but flipped the ball wide of second attempting to record a forceout, allowing J.P. Arencibia to score.

The White Sox tied it in the sixth. Paul Konerko, who returned to the lineup after missing three games with a bone spur in his left wrist, singled with one out and Alex Rios followed with a drive that just cleared the wall in left field.

Rios also had an RBI single in the first.

``The boys just battled and that's the M.O. of this team,' Peavy said. ``It could have got ugly early. The boys could have tucked their tails and called it a day early. But we didn't.'

Henderson Alvarez pitched seven innings of three-run ball for the Blue Jays, after posting a 6.08 ERA over his previous four outings.

Konerko, the American League's leading hitter at .371, went 2 for 3 with a walk.

Toronto was trying for its first sweep in Chicago since 1989. The Blue Jays have won 25 of their last 36 meetings with the White Sox.

NOTES: The White Sox placed OF Kosuke Fukudome on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique and called up OF Jordan Danks. Danks made his major league debut when he pinch ran in the eighth. He's the brother of White Sox LHP John Danks, currently on the disabled list with a strained shoulder. ...
