SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Ron Roenicke didn't get too upset when Brewers third baseman Josh Wilson lost a ball in the sun, even though it made the difference in Milwaukee's third loss in four games.

It was the fact that Wilson went out to the field without his sunglasses that irked the Brewers' manager, and Roenicke didn't try to hide his frustration either.

``You're in the major leagues, you take it for granted that guys know when to put glasses on,' Roenicke said after Milwaukee's 2-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Sunday. ``Even if you have them on, sometimes you're going to lose the ball anyway. But at least have them on.'

Wilson, sporting eye black but shunning the shades, trotted out to the infield in the fourth, then promptly lost Aubrey Huff's high pop-up while it was in the air. The ball fell to the ground, llowing Huff to reach base. Nate Schierholtz forced him at second but Brandon Belt followed with a hit-and-run single. Mike Fontenot followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-1.

With Giants lefty Madison Bumgarner throwing another gem, it was too big a mistake for the Brewers to overcome.

``I had it probably until it was less than 20 feet above my head and that's when it finally went in the sun,' Wilson said. ``I usually don't like wearing (sunglasses) ... but on a day like today, in hindsight, playing third base and where the sun was, I probably should have had them on.'

Ryan Braun homered for the Brewers, who dropped into a three-way tie for first in the NL Central. The Brewers trail both the Cardinals and Pirates by percentage points.

Prince Fielder and Corey Hart each had two hits but Milwaukee's offense fell short with runners in scoring position for a second straight day.

``When you score one (run), you're not going to beat them,' Roenicke said. ``We had some guys on base, we had chances. We just need to get a couple big hits when we get those guys out there.'

Bumgarner pitched into the eighth inning while Fontenot and Jeff Keppinger each drove in runs for the Giants, who have won seven of 10 games since the All-Star break. Huff had three hits and Belt added two hits.

Bumgarner (6-9) won his third straight decision after allowing a run on eight hits over 7 2-3 innings. He struck out eight and did not walk a batter. Sergio Romo got one out and Brian Wilson pitched the ninth for his 31st save in 35 chances.

Yovani Gallardo (11-7) lasted seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out five.

``I don't think any of us are happy in here,' Gallardo said. ``We just have to keep moving forward.'

The Giants improved to 27-13 in one-run games and recorded their major-league leading 29th comeback victory.

Braun hit his fourth home run over his last five games to give the Brewers a 1-0 lead with two outs in the first. Bumgarner allowed his first home run in eight starts, and his fifth overall.

Bumgarner's one-out double, which ended his 0-for-15 streak, in the third set up the tying run. He scored on Keppinger's single.

Bumgarner retired 12 of 14 batters at one point. He gave way to Sergio Romo with two outs and a runner on in the eighth.

Gallardo, who threw eight shutout innings against the Giants on May 29 in Milwaukee, has not won two in a row since his six-game winning streak ended June 9. He's 3-5 over his last nine starts.

NOTES: The Brewers re-signed LHP Chase Wright after releasing him 10 days ago. He's scheduled to start for the Nashville Sounds. ... Fielder was 2 for 28 before singling in his first two at bats.
