JUPITER, Fla. (AP) -Jeremy Hermida is off to a nice start at the plate with the Florida Marlins. He still has some work to do in the field.

Hermida homered for the second straight day but also misplayed a ball in left field in the Marlins' 14-10 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.

``It's still early,' said Hermida, who went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. ``I'm just trying to see some pitches and put the barrel on the ball.'

Hermida, making the switch from right field to left, struggled with the windy conditions in the field for the second consecutive game. He misplayed another flyball that fell for a hit after letting two drop on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles.

``We're going to continue to work him. We have five weeks left in spring training,' outfield coach Bo Porter said. ``It's my firm belief that when we get ready to play (on opening day) he's going to be confident and he's going to do a good job out there.'

The Marlins made two errors, giving them 13 over their first five Grapefruit League games. Second baseman Dan Uggla dropped a relay throw and rookie first baseman Gaby Sanchez misplayed a grounder.

Florida made 117 errors last year, second-most in the National League.

``I'm sure during the course of the year were going to have to play in these conditions,' manager Fredi Gonzalez said. ``I don't want to use the conditions for anything. You still have to throw strikes and we didn't do that in the tail end of the game.'

The teams combined for 32 hits on a day when the wind was clocked at 22 mph and the temperature dropped from 83 degrees at the first pitch to 67 degrees at the last out.

``That wind was crazy, man, Right in your face,' said Cardinals right-hander Joel Pineiro, who allowed an unearned run and two hits in two innings in his spring debut.

Brian Barton went 3-for-5 with two homers and six RBIs for St. Louis, including an opposite-field shot that hooked inside the right-field foul pole.

``That's where I live. I live out there,' he said. ``In the minor leagues most of my home runs were to right-center field.'

Florida right-hander Anibal Sanchez, who missed spring training last year while he recovered from shoulder surgery, allowed one run and five hits in three innings.

``In batting practice, I saw everything flying out nice and easy, without too much effort, so I tried to keep the ball down to get more groundballs,' he said.
