Recap: Cubs 8, White Sox 4

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -Ozzie Guillen was in no mood to talk - and it wasn't because his Chicago White Sox lost to the Cubs 8-4 Friday.

The White Sox manager was apparently upset about his son Oney's resignation from his position with the team's scouting department and walked right past the group of reporters waiting after the game.

Guillen later wrote an entry on his Twitter account in Spanish, saying that the team, presumably, ``touched me where it hurts me the most and I have to be ready for what comes, like I have always done.'

Guillen said on Twitter he hoped his decision to skip his postgame news conference didn't affect his relationship with the media.

``I extremely apologize to the Chicago media from the bottom of my heart, but it wasn't the right time for me to talk,' Guillen wrote. ``Tomorrow is another day.'

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that 24-year-old Oney Guillen was unhappy that his Twitter statements, which have been critical of the team and front office, were being monitored by the club. And Ozzie said last week the front office nixed his plan to start his own Web site. The site was a project Oney was working on.

Guillen wrote on Twitter: ``Hey kid we are behind you. No matter what,' referring to son Oney.

White Sox general manager Kenny Williams declined to comment.

There wasn't much for Guillen to be happy about after his team's performance Friday, in which two key members of his bullpen, J.J. Putz and Scott Linebrink, allowed home runs. Also, third baseman Mark Teahen left five men on base in going 0 for 3, and his spring average dropped to .130.

A crowd of 13,413, a spring training single-game record, saw Derrek Lee and Alfonso Soriano each hit two-run homers to lead the Cubs. The Cubs took three of four in their matchup this spring against the crosstown rivals.

Cubs shortstop Ryan Theriot went 2 for 3 to up his average to .536. Marlon Byrd and Xavier Nady hit solo homers for the Cubs, and Kosuke Fukudome had an RBI triple and scored in the first.

Gordon Beckham doubled in a run for the White Sox in the third inning, the second baseman's fourth double of spring training. A.J. Pierzynski added three hits for the White Sox.

White Sox starter John Danks allowed five runs on six hits in five innings.

``I was having a hard time throwing the changeup where I wanted,' Danks said.

NOTES: White Sox outfielder Alex Rios was scratched from the starting lineup as a precautionary measure because of sore left quadriceps. Rios is day to day Catcher Ramon Castro said he is feeling well after being struck with a pitch off the top of his helmet in Wednesday's game. He said he hasn't had any headaches since being taken to a hospital for tests that day. The Cubs sent eight players to their minor league camp, reducing their spring roster to 42 players. Pitcher Andrew Cashner, a 2008 first-round pick, was among the non-roster invitees assigned, along with pitchers Casey Coleman, Thomas Diamond and J.R. Mathes and infielder Bryan LaHair. Pitchers Blake Parker, Jeff Stevens and catcher Welington Castillo were optioned to Triple-A Iowa. Six members of the Chicago Blackhawks who competed in the 2010 Winter Olympics will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on White Sox Opening Day at U.S. Cellular Field April 5.
