PHOENIX (AP) -Chris Getz spent several minutes signing autographs following Saturday's game against the Chicago Cubs. Then White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen called in the apprehensive second baseman for a chat.

``Maybe I wasn't supposed to do that after a 13-2 loss,' Getz said. ``Obviously there was some better news. They told me I was going to be the second baseman and to get ready.'

Getz went 2-for-4, raising his average to .350. He beat out Jayson Nix, Brent Lillibridge and Gordon Beckham - the No. 8 overall pick in last June's amateur draft.

``He's worked hard enough,' Guillen said of Getz. ``He's showed people he can play this game. It's up to him how long he's going to be our second baseman. He's got everything working for him now.'

Beckham likely will be sent to the minor leagues - Guillen wants him to play every day.

``When we send him down, I don't know,' the manager said.

Lillibridge could end up as the utility player.

The Chicago teams drew a Cactus League record crowd of 13,311, topping Friday's mark of 13,162 set for the Cubs' game at HoHoKam Park against San Diego. The Cubs have won three in a row, while the White Sox have lost six straight.

Cubs starter Sean Marshall allowed two runs and five hits in five innings, and Jake Fox went 3-for-6 with five RBIs, raising his average to .327.

``I hope they give me a chance to come and hit for them because I think I can help the club out,' Fox said.

The Cubs scored three in the third on Alfonso Soriano's solo homer and Milton Bradley's two-run drive. Fox hit a three-run homer in the sixth that made it 12-2.

Josh Fields hit his second spring training homer for the White Sox, a solo shot in the fifth.

White Sox starter Mark Buehrle allowed seven runs in 3 2-3 innings, raising his ERA to 9.00.

Notes: The White Sox had an AL-leading 27 errors coming in, then made two more. Fields booted at hard grounder to third while LF Carlos Quentin made a throwing error while trying to throw out a runner at the plate.
