PHOENIX (AP) -Arizona's Ian Kennedy held the Brewers' hitters down while a Diamondbacks split-squad team battered Milwaukee in a 12-3 rout on Thursday.

Kennedy allowed five hits, two by Craig Counsell, and two runs in 5 2-3 innings to finish the spring with 17 strikeouts and five walks in 25 innings.

``You just try to build off the last one and when the regular season happens hopefully I can build off this one,' said Kennedy, slated to be the Diamondbacks' third starter.

Justin Upton and Mark Reynolds hit consecutive two-out homers off Brewers starter Randy Wolf in the first. The Diamondbacks added three more runs in the third on Chris Young's leadoff homer and Rusty Ryal's two-run, two-out shot to left.

Wolf went four innings in his final start, allowing five runs on seven hits with three strikeouts. He allowed two runs in 16 previous innings.

``It was 100 percent my fault,' said Brewers manager Ken Macha, who before the game had said Wolf was his only starter not to get roughed up this spring. ``He might as well just join the group. It was a rough outing for him.'

Casey McGehee hit a two-run homer off Chad Qualls in the bottom of the sixth for Milwaukee.

``Everybody is ready to leave and turn the page, go back to Milwaukee,' Macha said. NOTES: Ryal probably moved ahead of Ryan Roberts for the Diamondbacks' final bench spot, finishing 3 for 3 with a double and four RBIs. Roberts was 2 for 4 with an RBI. ... Milwaukee RF Corey Hart was 0 for 2 with a walk, dropping his average to .123 (7 for 57). ... Upton's home run was his sixth. ... Wolf finished the spring with 18 strikeouts and three walks. ... Before the game, Macha said he had told left-handers Manny Parra and Chris Narveson that they'd be starting the season in the bullpen. Parra pitched a scoreless fifth innings for the Brewers, allowing one hit. ``He threw the ball OK,' Macha said.
