Recap: Diamondbacks , Rockies
 •  BT Movements
Game: 0
Venue: Tucson Electric Park
Date: March 07, 2010 3:10 PM EDT

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -Rockies manager Jim Tracy really enjoyed Aaron Cook's spring debut Sunday, and he was very pleased with Manuel Corpas, too.

Cook worked three solid innings and Corpas got four outs to help Colorado beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-1 in a split-squad game that was stopped with one out in the seventh inning because of rain.

Cook allowed two two-out singles in the first before retiring the final seven batters he faced. Showing off his nice sinker, he got five of his nine outs on ground balls in a 45-pitch outing that included 30 strikes.

At 200 pounds, down from 220 at the end of last season, Cook is hoping to have more stamina and put less stress on his back this season.

``There's no loss of strength, no loss of velocity,' Tracy said. ``He had really good movement that became very pronounced when he got the location where he wanted in the third inning.'

Mark Reynolds had two of Arizona's four hits. Kevin Mulvey allowed one hit in two scoreless innings.

Melvin Mora, who had been hitless in his first six spring at_bats, had two doubles for Colorado. Carlos Gonzalez went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Corpas was the Rockies' closer when they went to the World Series in 2007 but has struggled the past two seasons. He struck out three and allowed one hit against Arizona.

``To see the ball coming out of his hand like it did today and the location of his pitches, that's really, really encouraging,' Tracy said. ``That would be a wonderful weapon to have (in the bullpen) with what we already do have.'

NOTES: Colorado closer Huston Street threw 15 pitches off the mound at 80 percent and is scheduled to throw 25 pitches at full speed in the bullpen Tuesday. Street is recovering from inflammation in his right shoulder that flared up after he threw batting practice last month. ... Colorado RF Brad Hawpe is expected to make his spring debut Wednesday. He was slowed by an infection in the big toe of his left foot, following the removal of an ingrown nail.
