DENVER (AP) -The Colorado Rockies finally saw their bats come alive in a 10-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.

``This hasn't been a lineup hitting like I expected,' Colorado second baseman Clint Barmes said. ``I looked around our clubhouse in spring training and I saw a lot of talent and expected a team hitting a lot and with consistency.'

Ryan Spilborghs homered and drove in three runs and Barmes added a two-run shot as the Rockies avoided being swept.

``This is something we had been looking for,' Colorado manager Clint Hurdle said of the 11-hit attack. ``We needed one of these where everybody threw something in and we got double-digit runs.'

Jeff Baker had a bases-loaded triple for the Rockies, who dropped the first five meetings between the two teams this year. They last defeated the Dodgers on Sept. 14.

``We hit so well, but we can't overlook what Jason Marquis did for us,' Hurdle said. ``Everything he does is all about winning. He thrives on the competition.'

Marquis (3-1) worked 7 1-3 innings and gave up three runs and six hits. He used his sinker effectively to get 10 ground ball outs and remain unbeaten in five decisions at Coors Field.

``I don't let any of my surroundings or what stadium I'm in bother me,' Marquis said of his success at Coors. ``I focus on making pitches and I'm a sinker ball pitcher which suits well for this ballpark.'

Marquis' counterpart didn't fare as well.

Clayton Kershaw (0-2) lasted only 4 2-3 innings, allowing nine runs on eight hits.

``It's frustrating to give up runs like that, but there are no excuses for giving up hits,' Kershaw said. ``You fall behind and give up hits, it is not a mechanical thing, but just pitching poorly.'

In his last start, he gave up six runs and eight hits to Houston in 4 1-3 innings.

``He got in trouble today, a walk, and then it seemed like he felt he had to get ahead of the next hitter and it was a home run,' manager Joe Torre said. ``I think things started speeding up for him after that.'

Orlando Hudson had his 11-game hitting streak snapped, going 0-for-4 with a walk. James Loney was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs.

The Dodgers had won three straight and 11 of 13.

Barmes and Spilborghs hit two-run home runs in the third inning to make it 4-0. Chris Iannetta drew a leadoff walk and Barmes drove the first pitch he saw into the left field seats for his third homer of the year.

Kershaw walked Troy Tulowitzki with two outs, and Spilborghs hit his first home run of the year to left-center.

``I just missed inside a little bit on Barmes,' Kershaw said.

Colorado chased Kershaw in a five-run fifth inning. Spilborghs had an RBI single and Kershaw left after walking Brad Hawpe with the bases loaded.

Scott Elbert replaced Kershaw and Baker cleared the bases with a triple over Matt Kemp's head in center to increase the Rockies' lead to 9-0.

``I was looking for a fastball and jumped it,' Baker said. ``We all know we can hit. It's a matter of getting a few guys going at once.'

Notes: OF Manny Ramirez, SS Rafael Furcal and 3B Casey Blake were given routine days off by Torre. ``I needed to get Manny a day off,' he said. ``He looked like he was dragging the bat a little last night.' ... Martin's eighth-inning double snapped a string of seven games without an extra-base hit. ... Baker got the start at 3B for the Rockies because of his history against Kershaw: 4-for-6 with a home run. ... Hurdle moved Tulowitzki to No. 2 in hopes of snapping Tulowitzki (.176) out of a slow start. ... The Rockies had lost eight of nine to Los Angeles dating to last year.
