SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Madison Bumgarner had a setback after a good spring start.

On Tuesday night, he got hit hard right away, before bouncing back with three scoreless ininings in the San Francisco Giants' 5-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

``He looked like he was just overthrowing there early, but he got back in sync and started locating better,' manager Bruce Bochy said. ``He just got the ball up there early in the game and paid for it.'

Aubrey Huff went 2 for 4 with a two-run home run and a double, and Freddy Sanchez hit a solo homer for San Francisco.

Bumgarner gave up solo home runs to Chris Young and Justin Upton in the first inning and allowed two doubles and two walks while striking out six in four innings.

``He's got a great head on his shoulders. He's very competitive, very mature for a 21-year-old pitcher,' Huff said. ``He had a rough first inning, but went out and did his job the rest of the way.'

Diamondbacks starter Barry Enright, in competition for a spot in the rotation, perhaps as high as No. 3, allowed one run on four hits with one strikeout and one walk in four three innings.

``He threw great,' manager Kirk Gibson said. ``He's using both sides of the plate. He's sharp.'

NOTES: Before the game D-Backs Gibson announced RHP Ian Kennedy would be Arizona's opening day starter, and that Daniel Hudson will follow him in the rotation. ... Bumgarner gave up one hit while facing the minimum in four scoreless innings against the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday.
