DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Rockies thought Drew Pomeranz had solved his inconsistency during a stay in the minor leagues that lasted nearly three months.

The 24-year-old left-hander was 8-1 with a 4.20 ERA in 15 starts at Triple-A Colorado Springs, with 96 strikeouts and 33 walks in 85 2-3 innings.

His minor league numbers didn't translate to the majors in his Rockies season debut.

``I'm really disappointed I didn't pitch the way I've been,' Pomeranz said after Sunday's 5-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants. ``I made some good pitches, but I made some mistakes.'

Pomeranz (0-1) allowed four runs, seven hits and four walks in 4 1-3 innings. He is 1-7 with a 6.17 ERA in his last 16 big league starts.

``He got into some deep counts and walked some guys,' Colorado manager Walt Weiss said. ``There were some bright spots. His stuff was good and got some strikeouts.'

Colorado's Michael Cuddyer singled in the eighth off Sandy Rosario, extending his hitting streak to 27 games. The streak is the longest in Rockies history and in the majors this season. Cuddyer has reached base safely in a franchise-record 45 straight games.

I got a slider for the hit, and got it just under the glove of the shortstop,' Cuddyer said.

Madison Bumgarner scattered four hits over seven innings, Hunter Pence hit a two-run homer and the Giants ended a six-game losing streak, their longest in three years.

Bumgarner (8-5) struck out five and walked three, improving to 4-1 with a 2.18 ERA in his last five starts. Sergio Romo pitched a one-hit ninth for his 19th save in 21 chances.

Buster Posey put the Giants ahead with a solo homer in the third.

San Francisco extended its lead to 4-0 in the fifth on a run-scoring throwing error by first baseman Jordan Pacheco on Posey's grounder and Pence's 13th homer.

Carlos Gonzalez hit his 22nd homer of the season in the sixth.

NOTES: It was the seventh homer this season off a left-hander for Gonzalez. ... 3B Nolan Arenado was limping after being hit in the left ankle by Bumgarner in the sixth but remained in the game. ... Dexter Fowler missed his fifth straight game with a sore right hand. Colorado manager Walt Weiss said Fowler showed improvement and could be ready Tuesday.
