MESA, Ariz. (AP) -Mark DeRosa and Kerry Wood each had an excellent day against their former team.

DeRosa homered his first two times up, doubled and hit a sacrifice fly to lead the Cleveland Indians over the Chicago Cubs 7-5 on Sunday.

Wood, who pitched for the Cubs from 1998-2008, signed a $20.5 million, two-year contract with the Indians in the offseason to become their closer. He worked a scoreless seventh inning Sunday, walking one and striking out one.

``It was a little different, coming out of the parking lot. It was nice seeing everybody. I hadn't seen those guys since last year. It was good to say hi to everybody,' Wood said. ``I think we left on good terms. Everything was good when we left. I think there was a mutual kind of agreement that it was just best for both. I'm looking forward to the place I'm at now and having a good season.'

The right-hander said he's on track for opening day.

``Things are good. I'm getting close to finishing up. I've only got a couple, three more outings. Be ready to roll,' Wood said.

The Cubs traded DeRosa to the Indians on Dec. 31 for three minor league pitching prospects. He hit both home runs and the double against Chicago starter Ted Lilly.

``I have mixed reactions about it,' DeRosa said. ``I'm excited I played well, but at the same time, that's my buddy on the mound.'

Grady Sizemore opened the first inning with a single for Cleveland. DeRosa hit the first pitch he saw from Lilly over the left-field wall.

In the third, DeRosa drove a 2-1 pitch halfway up the scoreboard beyond the left-field fence. It was his third homer of the spring.

``He's a good fastball hitter and I wanted to challenge him,' Lilly said. ``I still felt like if I do challenge him, if I locate my pitches, I might get him out. We're going to see him again in June. I already looked at the schedule and made sure. I've got to make sure that somehow I get in that series.'

The Cubs cut it to 3-2 in the third on a two-run homer by Milton Bradley, his fourth of the spring.

Cleveland scored one in the fifth against Lilly and three in the seventh against reliever Chad Gaudin.

Lilly pitched five innings, giving up seven hits and four runs. He walked two and struck out eight. Indians starter Fausto Carmona worked six innings, giving up seven hits and three runs.

Notes: Cubs manager Lou Piniella picked RHP Kevin Gregg to be the team's closer. Gregg beat out Carlos Marmol, who will work as the eighth-inning setup man. ... The Cubs reduced their spring roster to 30 players. They optioned RHPs Kevin Hart and Randy Wells to Triple-A Iowa. C Mark Johnson, INFs Andres Blanco and Esteban German and OFs Brad Snyder and So Taguchi were reassigned to minor league camp.
