SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) -Josh Hamilton tripled, felt a twinge in his ankle and called it a day before the second inning of the Texas Rangers' 13-6 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Sunday.

Hamilton hit a towering drive off the left-field wall for a triple in the bottom of the first. He jogged out to center field between innings but retreated to the dugout before the inning started, departing with tightness in his right Achilles' tendon.

``I felt fine running,' Hamilton said. ``The next pitch, I went to take my secondary lead and when I went back something grabbed. It's no big deal. It just tightened up on me and we've got 800 spring training games left. These aren't important.'

Hamilton walked to the Rangers' right-field clubhouse, where he was examined by team physicians. Manager Ron Washington said he'll give Hamilton the day off Monday ahead of Tuesday's scheduled day off and re-evaluate after that.

``We'll see how he feels,' Washington said. ``It was precautionary.'

Chris Woodward and Chris Shelton homered for the Mariners, who are unbeaten in their first four Cactus League games. Seattle finished with 15 hits and five walks against seven Rangers pitchers.

``They're aggressive,' Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu said. ``The guys are coming out hacking and we're working the counts a little bit.'

Mariners starter Brandon Morrow was supposed to go two innings but left after facing three batters without recording an out in the second. He gave up two runs and three hits with three walks.

``I threw like 15 balls in a row so it was time for me to go out,' Morrow said. ``I've got to work on lowering my effort level during the game so I can go seven or eight innings. I've got to find that rhythm.'

Rangers starter Vicente Padilla allowed four first-inning runs. He settled down in the second and struck out two in his first spring appearance.

Notes: Hamilton is 5-for-9 with two homers, a triple and four RBIs in four games this spring. ... Rangers RF Marlon Byrd made his spring debut following offseason microfracture surgery on his left knee and went 0-for-2 with a walk. ... Mariners CF Franklin Gutierrez finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs. ... Rangers SS Omar Vizquel provided the game's defensive highlight in the seventh, moving to his left and making a barehanded grab back to his right off a bad hop before throwing Prentice Redman out at first. ``You can't teach what he did out there,' Washington said. ``That's why he's got all those Gold Gloves.'
