JUPITER, Fla. (AP) - Javier Vazquez was pleased with his latest spring outing after missing a start with a sore elbow.

Vazquez, trying to rebound with Florida after a disappointing year with the Yankees, allowed two runs in four innings Saturday and the Marlins rallied for a 5-4 win against a split-squad of St. Louis Cardinals.

``I threw all my pitches, which was good for me, especially on the breaking balls,' the right-hander said. ``Sometimes you feel it a little bit in the elbow but everything was good.'

Vazquez missed a start on Monday. In his previous outing, he allowed one run on four hits in four innings against the Nationals on March 9.

``It's not gone 100 percent, but it's getting better, I know that,' he said of his elbow. ``I was able to throw a couple of sliders and a few curveballs.'

Vazquez's only mistake was a slow curveball that Nick Stavinoha hit on a 1-2 pitch for a two-run double with two outs in the second inning.

``He was in front of it a little bit but he still was able to get a handle on it so it was a good piece of hitting by him,' Vazquez said.

Vazquez signed a one-year $7 million contract in December after a rough season with the Yankees last year, going 10-10 with a 5.32 ERA.

He's tentatively in line to start the third game of the season but he could get moved up a day if Ricky Nolasco, the current No. 2 starter, has another rocky start.

Nolasco has allowed 11 earned runs in four innings in two starts after missing the first half of March with a jammed right thumb. He'll go again Wednesday against the Braves.

Kyle Lohse continued to have a solid spring, allowing one run on five innings. Lohse, the Cardinals' No. 4 starter, has a 1.50 ERA in 18 innings (four starts) this spring.

The Marlins scored four runs in the eighth, including the go-ahead run with two outs after left-fielder Shane Robinson and Jim Rapaport collided on a routine fly ball.

Ryan Theriot snapped an 0-for-15 skid with an infield single to third in the fifth inning. He scored on Matt Holliday's sacrifice fly.

Matt Dominguez, who's trying to win the third base job for the Marlins, went 0 for 4, dropping his batting average to .194. He also made a fielding error in the seventh inning, right before shortstop Donnie Murphy made an error on the next play.

Emilio Bonifacio, who started in left field after Logan Morrison was scratched because of the flu, went 1 for 4.

Second baseman Omar Infante had three hits with an RBI for the Marlins.

NOTES: Right fielder Mike Stanton could start playing the outfield in minor league games as early as Sunday. He has been making steady progress in his return from a strained right quad, suffered Feb. 27. For now, he has been limited to designated hitter duties. ... Center fielder Chris Coghlan was scheduled to play in another minor league game Saturday. He'll do it again Sunday before the Marlins decide if he's ready to test his sore shoulder in a Grapefruit League game.
