PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) - New York Mets newcomer Chris Young did fine in his final test and was relieved to come out of spring training totally healthy.

The Mets' No. 4 starter overcame a rocky third inning Wednesday to finish strong in a 6-3 win over the Florida Marlins. The exhibition finale for both teams was a preview to their opener Friday night in Florida.

Young walked three and gave up two doubles, including an RBI hit by Chris Coghlan, while allowing two earned runs in the third, but held the Marlins scoreless through the remainder of his five-inning outing.

The former San Diego Padres pitcher missed most of last season with a strained right shoulder.

``I felt I was capable of it (a healthy spring), but you never know until you go through it. And certainly as spring progressed, I continued to feel very, very good, if not better each time out,' said Young, who finished with a 1.78 ERA. ``I got up to 100-plus pitches and I feel strong and ready to go. I'm happy with my stuff, happy with my mechanics, happy with my health.'

After Coghlan's double and Logan Morrison's sacrifice fly gave the Marlins a 2-0 lead, Young got out of a bases-loaded jam by fanning Wes Helms with two outs. He didn't give up a hit after that.

David Wright had an RBI single in the third as the Mets tied it.

The loss was the first for the Marlins in their last 11 games, as they finished the spring at 15-15-1, with the tie coming March 23 against the Braves.

``I will think about that game,' Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez joked.

Rodriguez set his opening day lineup Wednesday, but the biggest focus early in the season will be on outfielder Mike Stanton, who missed nearly a month because of a quad strain. He was 0 for 3 Wednesday but finished the spring with a .389 average and 10 RBIs.

``He seems like he's ready to go,' Rodriguez said. ``He's been taking very good at_bats, he's been taking close pitches with two strikes and that's a very good sign.'

NOTES: Marlins C John Baker was placed on the 60-man disabled list as he continues to rehab from Tommy John elbow surgery last September. The moved cleared one more spot on the 40-man roster, which was completed when 3B Donnie Murphy and backup INF Greg Dobbs signed major league contracts and were added. ... The Marlins have acquired INF Jim Negrych for minor league C Carlos Paulino. The 26-year-old Negrych split time between Double-A and Triple-A last year, while the 21-year-old Paulino played at the Class-A level in 2010 with Greensboro (64 games) and Jupiter (three games).
