FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) -Andrew Miller is glad spring training is longer this year because of the World Baseball Classic. He needs the time to work on his changeup.

Miller allowed four runs over four innings in the Florida Marlins' 9-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday.

Emilio Bonifacio helped the Marlins rally after Miller departed, boosting his case to win a spot as a utilityman. He finished with four hits and three RBIs.

Miller's spring ERA rose to 10.57. He gave up three earned runs and three hits, walked three and struck out two.

``I probably threw eight or 10 changeups, and I don't think I threw eight or 10 changeups all of last year total,' he said. ``Again, I don't have the best changeup in the world, but I'm going to keep working on it and keep throwing it. That's my goal this spring, to get more comfortable with it. I'm probably one of few guys who's happy to see a longer spring training this year.'

Minnesota's Jose Mijares, who pitched well last September in a setup role, has more work to do, too. He gave up four runs and three hits, recording only one out in the seventh.

The Twins continued to take a look at their catching options while Joe Mauer treats the pain in his lower back.

Mauer spent the day in Baltimore seeking a second opinion on how to handle the inflamed joint that has kept him from taking the field this spring. General manager Bill Smith said he had no update on the situation.

Veteran backup Mike Redmond is set, so the Twins are looking more closely at prospects Drew Butera, Jose Morales and Wilson Ramos. Morales has the only major league experience, going 3-for-3 in his only game before severely injuring his ankle in September 2007. Butera, the son of former Twins catcher Sal Butera, hasn't played above Double-A and Ramos hasn't played above Class A.

Butera started Saturday and went 0-for-2 with a walk. He caught four shutout innings from Kevin Slowey, who struck out five, allowed two hits and walked one.

``I thought he did great,' Slowey said. ``He really knows how to call an entire game. We were on the same page. I think he does a good job out there.'

Ramos is batting .308 this spring. He hit 13 homers for Class A Fort Myers last season and is considered a rising star, but neither he nor any of the others have close to the ability that the two-time AL batting champion Mauer does.

``It's not like it wouldn't impact us,' Slowey said when asked if he's thought about the possibility of Mauer missing some of the regular season. ``He's tremendous. He's a Gold Glover. But if that's the case, we have guys. We have guys who can get the job done.'

Notes: RHP Phil Humber, trying to win a spot as a long reliever, will make his first spring start for Minnesota on Monday. ... Marlins stars Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla both went 0-for-3.
