MILWAUKEE (AP) - It took a familiar face to finally cool off the Milwaukee Brewers.

Former Brewers pitcher Chris Capuano gave up only a solo home run to Prince Fielder as the New York Mets beat the Brewers 2-1 on Tuesday.

Brewers outfielder Corey Hart said Capuano's former teammates want to see him succeed - just not against them.

``Anytime you face a guy you played with and you're friends with, it's always kind of uncomfortable,' Hart said. ``But he pitched well. He's obviously had his ups and downs with them this year but it was nice for him to throw a good game. I wish it wasn't against us but we're happy for him.'

Fielder's 15th homer of the season gave the Brewers the lead in the sixth. But the Mets rallied behind Jose Reyes' two-run triple in the seventh.

Fielder's homer was the only big mistake of the night for Capuano (4-6).

Capuano downplayed his return to Milwaukee going into the game, but acknowledged afterward that it was ``a little strange' to be on the visiting side at Miller Park.

Brewers fans welcomed Capuano back warmly, even when he went to out to dinner Monday night.

``We saw a couple people, they were very gracious, saying good luck,' Capuano said. ``Same thing today, a lot of the fans were saying good luck. Just really classy and gracious people.'

Capuano was with the Brewers organization from 2004 to 2010 and made the All-Star team in 2006 before his career got off track because of injuries.

He received warm applause from the crowd when he took the mound at the beginning of Tuesday's game, as well as in his first plate appearance.

``You don't expect that,' Capuano said. ``I'm a New York Met, and that's where my loyalties are, so you don't expect that. But it's nice that the fans recognize it.'

And he nearly homered in the fifth, sending a deep fly ball to center that was caught at the wall by Carlos Gomez.

``I thought it might have had enough,' Capuano said. ``But Carlos is just tremendous out there, the kind of ground he can cover.'

Tuesday's game came as a heat wave hit Milwaukee, with 94-degree temperatures at first pitch. The Brewers were nearly as hot as a team, having won 20 of their past 26 games coming into Tuesday's game - most recently a four-game road sweep of the Florida Marlins.

Brewers starter Shaun Marcum threw six scoreless innings. But Marcum threw 108 pitches and gave up four walks, and was lifted in favor of reliever Marco Estrada (1-3) to start the seventh.

``I wasn't locating anything,' Marcum said. ``It was a battle all night. I was fighting my mechanics a little bit. My location, everything was off. When we had to make some pitches, we made some pitches and obviously the guys played good defense behind me

Estrada got in trouble right away, giving up a walk and a single before later allowing the triple to Reyes.

``I don't really consider that a bad outing,' Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. ``Today, he was a little flat with his fastball and a little flat with his change-up but he's OK. He comes in, he throws strikes, he usually locates real well.'

Notes: The Brewers drafted 3B Trent Boras in the 30th round of the first-year player draft on Tuesday. He is the son of agent Scott Boras, who represents Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder. ... One round earlier, the Brewers selected right-hander David Lucroy, the younger brother of Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy.
