PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Kelly Shoppach's two-run homer to left field in the 10th inning carried even further than the voice of one disgruntled Phillies fan sitting in front of the press box.

``You are the worst! You are the worst!'

His throaty yells were aimed at reliever B.J. Rosenberg.

The few thousand fans who had stuck around joined that guy in a round of boos as soon as the inning ended. Rosenberg allowed four runs and the New York Mets beat Philadelphia 9-5 on Tuesday night.

``It wasn't a fun one,' Rosenberg said. ``For whatever reason, I didn't quite feel like myself. Everything was up. It's pretty simple, you make really bad pitches to good hitters and you're going to get in trouble. All I can do is try and bounce back.'

Ryan Howard hit his 11th career grand slam and Chase Utley had a solo shot for the Phillies. That wasn't enough for a team clinging to extremely slim postseason hopes.

Rosenberg (0-2) made it a 10th to forget in his only inning of work. He allowed Ike Davis' tiebreaking double and Lucas Duda's RBI single.

Shoppach, who hit a tying double in the eighth, then connected for his second homer with the Mets to make it 9-5.

Bobby Parnell (4-3) tossed two scoreless innings for the win.

The Phillies (61-68) had their four-game winning streak snapped.

Neither starting pitcher fared well. New York's Chris Young gave up five runs and four hits in 5 1-3 innings.

Vance Worley allowed four runs and nine hits in 4 1-3 innings for the Phillies to fall to 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA in his last five starts. Worley has battled bone chips this season that caused a stint on the disabled list. He said that's no excuse for a string of mediocre starts that has kept him winless at home since June 26.

``I got ahead of guys like I need to, I just had a hard time putting them away,' Worley said. ``I'm not locating the way I need to. It's just a matter of making sure I can make pitches and make them make contact to the guys instead of through the hole.'

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said Worley's command continues to be a problem.

Manuel said he hasn't considered yanking Worley from the rotation. Like Worley, Manuel won't blame the bone chips in the right-hander's elbow. Worley will need surgery after the season.

``He tells me he's fine, the trainer tells me he's fine,' Manuel said. ``That's all I have to go by.'

Worley's ineffectiveness led to the Phillies using five relievers. They blew leads of 4-1 and 5-4 before Rosenberg got rocked for four hits and four runs in the 10th.

``I'm sure that won't be the last bad outing I have,' he said. ``Hopefully, I have a lot more good ones.'

It was the first time in 10 games New York scored more than three runs.

Mike Baxter hit a two-run homer for the Mets, who have won three straight. They had lost six in a row before winning the final two games last weekend against the woeful Houston Astros.

Young remained winless in his last four starts after giving up the home runs to Howard and Utley.

Young allowed his first three batters of the game to reach base, then gave up Howard's ninth homer of the season.

``I had trouble finding my rhythm in the first inning,' Young said. ``I dug us a hole and the guys picked me up.'

Baxter's first homer of the year in the fourth cut it to 4-3 and the Mets tied it in the fifth on David Wright's sacrifice fly.

Utley's ninth homer, a solo shot to right, made it 5-4.

Daniel Murphy had three hits for the Mets, two days after he strained his right shoulder.

This was once one of the hottest rivalries in baseball. But this three-game series is just two mediocre teams who really have little to play for except outside shots at winning records. The crowd of 41,227 was the smallest at Citizens Bank Park this season.
