DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Rockies hit a statistical low Saturday night in a season filled with disappointments, their pitchers yielding a season-high five home runs in a 9-7 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.

Rookie Christian Friedrich (5-8), lasted just 4 1-3 innings and allowed three of the homers. Yet, the Rockies had ample opportunities to win the game.

``You get outhomered 5-1 and you have to remove your starter before the fifth inning's complete, you would think you might have gotten trounced pretty good,' Rockies manager Jim Tracy said.

Seven runs are the most the Rockies have scored in their past six games. But the loss left them 4-10 since the All-Star break and with a 20-31 record at Coors Field, where they once intimidated opponents. The Rockies have been outscored 327-296 at Coors Field, hitting 66 homers at home to their opponents' 80.

The Reds, who have won a season-high nine straight games and are 13-2 since the All-Star break, got two home runs from Ryan Ludwick and one each from Scott Rolen, Drew Stubbs and rookie Todd Frazier - all with the bases empty.

Johnny Cueto (13-5) gave up three runs and four hits in the first inning and was nicked for 10 hits and five runs in six innings but won his fourth straight decision.

The Rockies left 10 runners on base, eight in the final four innings, and went 2 for 10 with runners in scoring position.

``The opportunity was there to do more,' Tracy said. ``We had a genuine opportunity in the sixth with bases loaded and two outs. Personally, I think we swung at ball four. That would have got us another (run) and sent another hitter to the plate.'

Tracy was referring to the inning-ending force play that Dexter Fowler hit into after Cueto walked pinch hitter Tyler Colvin to load the bases.

With two out and two on in the eighth, reliever Sean Marshall struck out Carlos Gonzalez. Aroldis Chapman pitched the ninth, stranding two base runners by fanning pinch hitter Andrew Brown for the final out for his 21st save in 25 chances. Brown is hitless in his past 13 at_bats.

Michael Cuddyer connected for his 15th homer of the season, a two-run shot in the seventh off reliever Jose Arredondo that made it 8-7. Ludwick added another run for the Reds when he led off the eighth with a homer off Matt Belisle, his second of the night for his third multihomer game of the season and 15th of his career.

Friedrich is 2-5 in eight starts at Coors Field with an 8.92 ERA. The Rockies are 5-11 in games started by Friedrich, who has won one of his past 10 decisions and finished July with a 1-3 record and a 7.77 ERA in five starts.

``It's just a matter of being consistent and keeping the ball down,' said Friedrich, who has allowed 10 homers in 39 1-3 innings at Coors Field. ``When the ball's down you're going to get ground balls and you're not going to get hurt. You leave balls up and they left the yard like they did today.

``Tonight, I felt I was lacking control and firing it in the zone for the most part, but I can't just go up there trying to fill up the zone throwing pitches up in the zone whether (or not) they're strikes. You got to keep the ball down.'

NOTES: The Rockies recalled INF Tommy Field from Triple-A Colorado Springs to fill the roster spot left vacant by Friday's trade of INF Marco Scutaro to the San Francisco Giants. ... Rockies RHP Jhoulys Chacin, who has been on the disabled list since May 2 with a shoulder inflammation, is scheduled to throw 45-50 pitches Sunday for Class A Modesto in his first rehab start. ... Frazier's 11 homers are the second most by a Reds' rookie third baseman, matching Chris Sabo's total in 1988. Grady Hatton hit 14 for the Reds in 1946
