PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) -It took a while, but the Colorado Rockies are in the win column.

Aaron Cook struck out six and the Rockies became the last team in the majors to win this spring, beating the San Diego Padres 13-11 Friday.

Catchers Yorvit Torrealba and Michael McKenry each homered for the Rockies, who started out 0-8 in exhibition play. Trailing 13-6, the Padres scored five times in the ninth inning, highlighted by Chad Huffman's grand slam.

``You never want to play a week and not win a game, that's the bottom line,' Colorado manager Clint Hurdle said.

Cook allowed up one run and four hits in four innings.

``For team morale, it definitely helps to get a win,' said Cook, Colorado's No. 1 starter going into the season. ``We always say, 'It's just spring training and we're working on stuff.' But at the end of the day, when you get a win it's a little easier to make that long bus ride home.'

Rockies reliever Huston Street also made the two-hour trip from Tucson. He gave up a three-run homer to Chase Headley, and Kyle Blanks followed with a home run.

Colorado had 16 hits. The Rockies were helped by two errors by shortstop Everth Cabrera, who has five miscues in eight games.

The Padres have 10 players participating in the World Baseball Classic, and rested several starters Friday.

``We had a lot of positives,' manager Bud Black said. ``Headley and Blanks both coming back from two strikeouts to hit home runs. There were some good things. But when you score 11 runs and get 14 hits, the offense isn't the problem.'

Notes: Street, obtained over the winter from Oakland in the Matt Holliday trade, gave up four earned runs while getting one out. ... San Diego's Brian Giles and Kevin Kouzmanoff both had the day off. ... Colorado RHP Esmil Rogers allowed five runs in the ninth before getting Mitch Canham on a groundout to end the game.
