CHICAGO (AP) - Jake Peavy took the blame. So did reliever Will Ohman. Even catcher A.J. Pierzynski, who went 5 for 5, said he'd shoulder some of the responsibility for this tough loss.

The Chicago White Sox took a six-run lead into the sixth inning Tuesday behind Peavy before the Detroit Tigers hit three homers in an eight-run rally and then held on for a 10-8 victory.

``I've been in jams all year. I just have to make a pitch to get us out of the inning there and try to leave with a lead,' Peavy said.

``I just don't know what to say. It was ugly. I let my emotions get the best out of me. I take full responsibility for letting the inning get to where it got and the bullpen had trouble keeping it where it was. It was just a bad loss. ... when you get that many runs and you don't walk away with a team win, it's disgusting.'

Peavy sailed into the sixth before Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run homer to the back of the bleachers in left field.

A double by Prince Fielder, who had three hits, and a hit batter set up Ryan Raburn's first homer of the season, a three-run shot. After Peavy walked Jhonny Peralta, reliever Will Ohman (0-2) hit pinch-hitter Delmon Young and Austin Jackson followed with a three-run homer on an 0-2 count.

``Obviously the momentum changed pretty quickly,' Ohman said. ``I didn't do what I needed to do. ... an 0-2 homer in unacceptable. ... I got beat. I cost us the game.'

Raburn and Peralta added RBI singles off Nate Jones in the seventh.

Pierzynski, who helped the White Sox stage a ninth-inning rally with his fifth hit, said it wasn't all Peavy's fault.

``He came out and we still had the lead, we just couldn't get it done,' Pierzynski said. ``Blame me for putting the wrong fingers down. It just happened so fast. ... A couple of swings, a couple of mistakes and the next thing you know, we're down.'

Raburn has hit 13 of his 54 career homers against the White Sox.

``There's no rhyme or reason, I seem to have pretty good success. I don't know why,' he said. ``They have a pretty good staff over there, I guess I've just ran into a few balls.'

After the Tigers built their lead to 10-6, things got shaky in the bottom of the ninth when the White Sox loaded the bases shortly after closer Jose Valverde had to leave the game with tightness in his lower back.

Alexei Ramirez hit a two-run double off Octavio Dotel before Dayan Viciedo hit a fly ball to the right-field fence to end the game.

NOTES: Former major league pitcher Jim Abbott, who played with the White Sox and was a teammate of Robin Ventura's, threw out the first pitch to the first-year Chicago manager. ... Detroit finished its nine game-road trip to Seattle, Oakland and Chicago at 4-5. ... The White Sox play two games in California against the Angels before returning to Chicago to face the Cubs at Wrigley Field over the weekend. That's when DH Adam Dunn is expected to play left field to get his bat in the lineup in the NL park.
