Perez gesture riles Royals
May 29, 2012
CLEVELAND (AP) - Indians closer Chris Perez has angered Kansas City's Jarrod Dyson for a gesture he made after striking out the Royals outfielder.
Perez, who recently criticized Indians fans for their lack of support, mocked Dyson by waving his hand in front of his face - a move popularized by pro wrestler John Cena - in the ninth inning of Monday's game. Dyson called the gesture ``terrible'' and said he was looking forward to facing Perez again.
Dyson, who fanned on three pitches, said he did not see the gesture until watching it on videotape.
Perez brushed off Dyson's comments.
Earlier this season, Perez was fined by Major League Baseball for a tweet following a benches-clearing incident in Kansas City.
