NEW YORK (AP) - Players' union head Michael Weiner and former Mets general manager Jim Duquette and his daughter, Lindsey, have been voted the Arthur Richman You Gotta Have Heart award by the New York chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

Weiner, who has worked for the players' association since 1988, announced in August that he is being treated for a brain tumor.

Duquette donated a kidney in June to 10-year-old Lindsey. She had suffered from Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, a leading cause of kidney failure in children.

The award will be presented at the chapter's annual dinner on Jan. 19.

R.A. Dickey, the New York Mets' first 20-game winner since 1990, was voted the Joe DiMaggio Toast of Town award Tuesday. Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia was selected for the Joan Payson Award for community service.

Retiring Atlanta third baseman Chipper Jones was chosen for the William J. Slocum and Jack Lang Long and Meritorious Service award.

San Francisco third baseman Pablo Sandoval earned the Babe Ruth Award as postseason MVP, and Detroit third baseman Miguel Cabrera, baseball's first Triple Crown winner since 1967, earned the Sid Mercer/Dick Young Player of the Year.

Nick Swisher, likely leaving the New York Yankees after four seasons, was selected for the Ben Epstein/Dan Castellano Good Guy award. The 1973 New York Mets get the Willie, Mickey & The Duke award, and Jim Abbott receives the Casey Stengel You Could Look It Up award on the 20th anniversary of his no-hitter for the Yankees against Cleveland.
