Different Rangers still have 'some good pieces'
January 11, 2013
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Adrian Beltre believes the new-look Texas Rangers are still going to be competitive in the AL West.
Beltre, a Gold Glove-winning third baseman who hit .321 with 36 homers last season, said Friday that the Rangers still ``have some good pieces'' in the lineup that can get the job done.
They also have a solid pitching staff led by Yu Darvish, who won 16 games as a major league rookie last season. The Japanese ace says he's more at ease this year and is able to prepare at a less-rushed pace.
There will be significant changes after the Rangers lost Josh Hamilton in free agency to the division-rival Los Angeles Angels, traded Michael Young and watched Mike Napoli agree to a deal with Boston that's still not finalized.
