D-backs finalize 2-year deal with Pennington
January 30, 2013
PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Diamondbacks have finalized their $5 million, two-year contract with shortstop Cliff Pennington.
The deal, which avoided salary arbitration, was agreed to Jan. 23 and completed Wednesday.
He gets a $1 million signing bonus payable on June 15 and salaries of $1.25 million this year and $2.75 million in 2014.
Pennington was acquired by the Diamondbacks from Oakland in October as part of a three-team trade that sent center fielder Chris Young to the Athletics and reliever Heath Bell from Miami to Arizona.
