NEW YORK (AP) - Yankees President Randy Levine is switching law firms.
Levine joined Jackson Lewis on Tuesday after 14 years at Akin Gump.
When Levine took the Yankees' job in January 2000, he also became senior counsel on labor and employment practices at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer and Feld. Jackson Lewis said Tuesday he will be a counsel at its firm in addition to his duties with the Yankees.
Levine, 58, worked in the Justice Department during the Reagan administration and served under New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani as labor relations commissioner (1994-95) and deputy mayor for economic development, planning and administration (1997-00). He was Major League Baseball's chief labor negotiator from 1995-97, then worked as a consultant to MLB while at City Hall before joining the Yankees.
