Ten win totals to watch
March 26, 2007
By Charlie Solomon VegasInsider.com
One of my favorite wagers of the baseball season for me has always been the over/under total for wins in a season. There are always a number of totals that for some reason seem out of whack. This year is no different, as I have found ten gems for your wagering pleasure.
It seems that the oddsmakers have not quite warmed up for the season and have left these ten here for you to wallop like a fat fastball, and make some excellent wagers that you can collect on at the end of the season. You can then use this money to make some winning playoff picks.
I have selected five over totals, and five under totals, and here they are……

77.5 |
No sophomore jinx here. 78 wins last year. With Willis, Cabrera, and the young stud pitchers .500 will be no problem. |
|
79 |
With the addition of Barry Zito the Giants should be able to improve on their 76-win performance from last year. |
|
83.5 |
One of my favorite over for this season. Although Liriano is hurt, the Twins still have Santana and the reigning MVP Justin Morneau. That should be enough for 85+ wins. |
|
89 |
Very odd number for a team that had 95 wins last year, and has as much pitching as any team in either league. Grab this one and head to the bank! |
|
89.5 |
With Barry Zito gone from the division and the overall strength of the Angels they should be able to improve on last years total by one win.

84.5 |
The Cubs have a vastly improved ballclub, but to ask them to improve by 19 wins is a bit much to ask for especially given the slight improvement of each team in their division. |
|
85 |
The Braves won 79 games last year, and I believe they have embarked on a downtrend. Their starting pitching would have to stay healthy for a full year to achieve this total, and I just don't see it happening. |
|
86 |
The Cardinals won 83 last year, and even though they won the World Series they have not improved much in the offseason. |
|
88 |
The White Sox play in the toughest division in baseball, and with the loss of pitcher Freddie Garcia it will be difficult to get near the 90 win total from last season. |
|
97.5 |
The AL East has improved somewhat from last year. The Red Sox and the Blue Jays will both be tougher, and with the Yankees questionable pitching it will be tough to surpass last years 97 win total.
Good luck to all with these picks. Looking forward to making everyone a winner throughout the season.
Only a few days until opening day……Can’t wait
