Howard boosts Lakers' odds

With the four-team trade Thursday night that allowed the Lakers to obtain disgruntled Magic center Dwight Howard, the Lakers have now been elevated to the Western Conference favorite at the LVH Super Book, passing the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Heat are still the 9/4 (+225) favorite to win the 2013 NBA Championship, but the Lakers have moved up the ladder drastically over the last five weeks to 3-to-1.
The Lakers had opened at 8-to-1 to win next year's Championship, but were dropped to 5-to-1 following the acquisition of Steve Nash on July 4. Shortly after the Nash deal, amid rumors the Lakers were close to trading for Howard, many Las Vegas sports books dropped the Lakers all the way down to 5-to-2. When the deal looked like it wouldn't happen, the Lakers were moved back up to as high as 5-to-1 at many books.
But now it's official: Dwight Howard is a Laker and the expectations are high.

The William Hill sports book operation in Nevada wasted little time in creating odds for the new Lakers in light of their acquisition of Howard. Keeping in line with the posting of hot topic odds that Lucky’s sports book operations were noted for before being one of three books merged into the massive William Hill conglomerate, they posted four timely propositions that will give the public something to debate and wager upon.
William Hill posted three YES/NO props in relation to the Lakers chances at winning the Western Conference and NBA Championship and well as a prop asking whether the Lakers, Heat, or Thunder will win the title. They also posted a season win total number at 57.5.
