Handicapper Analysis from VegasInsider.com Experts

Why the Spurs will cover in Game 2:
Antony Dinero -- “There is a lot of doubt surrounding this Game 2. Most who expected the Grizzlies to advance and this series to be a toss-up can't imagine Sunday's opener being anything but an aberration. Those who watched or stuck with the Spurs are dubious that the Grizzlies can avoid going down 2-0 knowing how muxc Zach Randolph has struggled against San Antonio's length. Count us among the latter, especially with the Spurs out to prove that Memphis' difference-making defense can contain their efficient, multi-pronged attack. Lay the points at home and back San Antonio.”

Why the Grizzlies will cover in Game 2:

Bruce Marshall -- “Been there and done that; so it goes for Memphis, once again down 1-0 in a playoff series.  Remember, the Grizzlies also lost the first games of the previous matchups vs. the Clippers and Thunder before rallying to impressive wins in each series.  Things are going to be a bit tougher vs. San Antonio, which rolled 105-83 on Sunday, and in the process completely neutralized the Grizzlies' Zach Randolph, who scored only 2 points and was a staggering in his minutes on the floor. The Spurs shot 53% from the floor on Sunday and canned 14 triples against one of the best three-point defenses in the NBA.  Keep in mind that Memphis had covered the spread in ten straight games prior to Sunday, and won 3 of its last 4 straight up on the road; expect a bounce-back tonight. Play Grizzlies”

Why Game 2 will go OVER the total:
Mark Franco – “The Over is 6-1 in Grizzlies last 7 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game and the Over is 6-2 in Grizzlies last 8 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Over is 7-1 in Grizzlies’ last eight Tuesday games. The Over is 4-0 in Spurs’ last four Conference Finals games. Memphis will shoot the ball much better tonight then in game one and that leads to over the posted total.”

Why Game 2 will go UNDER the total:
James Patrick – “In Game 1 of this Western Conference Finals, the San Antonio Spurs set a franchise postseason record with (14) 3-pointers. San Antonio also placed a heavy emphasis on stopping Zach Randolph and routinely collapsed multiple defenders on him and also fronted him so he couldn’t receive the ball in areas in which he could operate. As a result he was (1-of-8) shooting with his lone basket coming on a put-back with (9:26) left in the game. San Antonio has now held opponents under (90) points in five of its (11) postseason games. The Memphis Grizzlies have got the best defense in the league. They’re going to come out and make adjustments and play better on defense for sure as the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies duke it out in the Western Conference championship with a ticket to the NBA Finals on the line. San Antonio also has the ability and experience to switch gears, going from an up-tempo style versus the Warriors to a slowed-down grinder with the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies win with defense as Memphis held an NBA-best (71) opponents under (100) points and led the NBA in scoring defense at (89.3) points per game. Defensively, the Grizzlies wear down opponents as big men Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph plug up the middle. This should be a defensive showdown between teams built around big men at the AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas. The Under is (6-3) in the last (9) meetings, (6-3) in Spurs last (9) home games and (5-1) in Spurs last (6) games playing on (1) day of rest.”
