NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Los Angeles Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni says he has no plans to play point guard Steve Nash in Friday night's game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Lakers are trying to be cautious about overworking the 39-year-old point guard, who is in his 18th season.
The Lakers played in Houston on Thursday night and did not get to New Orleans until 3 a.m. Friday. When the Lakers played on back-to-back nights earlier this season, Nash sat out the second of those games as well.
Nash played about 28 minutes in Houston, finishing with 12 points and six assists.
D'Antoni says the Lakers hope to avoid any setbacks with Nash, who was sidelined much of last season with broken leg as well as hip and hamstring injuries.
