Philadelphia enters Wednesday’s tilt as a 6.5-point favorite over the visiting Nets, which is just the 11th time Brooklyn has been listed as an underdog in a matchup since the acquisition of James Harden.

While the total for this event currently sits at OU 232 – marking just the sixth time this season that the over-under for a matchup containing Philadelphia has been set above 230.

Nets vs. 76ers Current Form-Last Game

The Sixers head into Wednesday boasting wins in three of their last four games, with Philadelphia’s only loss during that timeframe coming in tough, road-matchup against the Pelicans this past Friday as Joel Embiid inexplicably scored just 14 points on 5-of-16 from the floor.

Philadelphia’s latest affair was also nationally televised on ESPN, and resulted in another lopsided victory over the Mavericks as Embiid triumphantly returned to MVP-form with 36 points across just 25 minutes of action during the Sixers’ 17-point win in Dallas.

On the other hand, the Nets enter Wednesday’s event following victories in three of their last four games with Brooklyn’s only loss across that stretch coming in a matchup against the Lakers that Kyrie Irving was ejected from.

Despite Irving also missing Brooklyn’s matchup with the Timberwolves on Tuesday for personal reasons, the Nets still managed to run away with a blowout victory against the league’s worst team as Kevin Durant and Joe Harris combined for 54 points on 19-of-27 from the floor during Brooklyn’s 30-point win.

Nets vs. 76ers Head-to-Head

  • Feb. 6, 2021 - 76ers 124 vs. Nets 108, Philadelphia -7.5, Under 233
  • Jan. 7, 2021 - Nets 122 vs. 76ers 109, Brooklyn +4, Over 222

Philadelphia and Boston have split a pair of matchups during this year’s regular season – with both of those contests staying under the total set for Wednesday’s affair (OU 232.5).

Durant, Irving, and Harden all did not participate in the first matchup between these teams. Apparently, the services of Brooklyn’s superstars weren’t necessary during that contest though – considering Caris LeVert teamed up with Harris for 50 points on the way to Brooklyn’s 13-point victory over a full-strength Philadelphia lineup.

Brooklyn swapped LeVert with Harden for the second matchup between these teams, which bred a much different result – as the Sixers were catapulted to a double-digit victory by a 33-point performance from Embiid, along with an efficient, 21-point outing from Tobias Harris (10-16 FGA).

Brooklyn Nets Betting Outlook

Inside the Stats (2020-2021)

  • Overall: 37-17 SU, 26-28 ATS, 32-22 OU
  • Road: 15-10 SU, 13-12 ATS, 16-9 OU

Since loading their roster with supreme talent, the Nets have become notoriously prone to injuries, or absences of other sorts – with Harden still slated to miss an extended period with a hamstring issue, and Kyrie being listed as questionable for Wednesday’s matchup for personal reasons.

Brooklyn’s revamped roster seems to have led to a remarkable run of ‘over’ results to kick off this season, as the Nets entered their current campaign playing at a much faster pace than last year’s squad – which left the over-under to set at a 21-12 clip in matchups containing Brooklyn by the conclusion of February.

The oddsmakers seem to have Brooklyn’s game-flow down to a science as we approach the midway-point in April though, considering the total has stayed 'under' in 10 of 19 Nets’ games since the onset of March – roughly a coin toss.

Philadelphia 76ers Betting Outlook

Inside the Stats (2020-2021)

  • Overall: 37-17 SU, 30-22-2 ATS, 25-29 OU
  • Home: 20-5 SU, 16-9 ATS, 15-10 OU

Embiid has sat out during 11 of Philadelphia’s last 16 games. Unlike the years in the past though, the Sixers appear to be better suited for the extenuating circumstances that they have encountered lately – considering Doc Rivers’ team heads into Wednesday’s matchup 11-5 during that span.

The Sixers consistently leaned towards the ‘over’ for the first half of their current season, as Philadelphia’s newfound construction threw a wrench into the odds-making process out of the gate this year – leading to slight skew of high-scoring results.

Since the start of April though, Philadelphia seems to have a slower approach to its game plan – which has resulted in the total staying 'under' in six of seven Sixers’ games since the latest calendar-turn.

Player Prop Best Bet

Tobias Harris – Over 18.5 Points (-114)

Harris has undeniably been one of the key contributors to Philadelphia’s dynamic offense this season – currently averaging over 20 points per game while shooting 51.8% from the floor and 40.2% from beyond the arc.

He struggled in the Sixers’ most recent matchup against Dallas though – chipping in just 10 points on 4-11 from the field during Philadelphia’s blowout victory.

Prior to that contest, Harris had scored 20 or more points in three of his last four games – which is a stretch highlighted by a 34-point outing against the Timberwolves. I’ll back Tobias to bounce-back with a solid night on the scoreboard against Brooklyn here.

Nets vs. 76ers Prediction

While the Nets clearly pose the threat of catching fire and dominating with the long-ball in any given matchup, the Sixers serve as an interesting dilemma for Brooklyn defensively – considering Philadelphia has a seven-footer in Embiid that possesses the ability to carve them up for 50 points, if the ideal circumstances are presented.

The total has now stayed ‘under’ in eight of the last 12 Nets’ games – and seven of the last nine Sixers’ games.

I’ll back the total to stay ‘under’ again here, as I think Nets’ coach, Steve Nash, will primarily opt to utilize the size in his rotation during Wednesday’s matchup to account for Embiid’s presence – leading to a third straight contest between these teams falling below that number.

Score Prediction: 76ers 117, Nets 111
