PLAYER UPDATES Provided By SportsBuff.com
Player: Craig Davis WR, San Diego Chargers 11/20/08, Time: 6:35 am
 Status:
Out
News: The Chargers placed Davis on the injured reserve on Wednesday with a groin injury.
 Analysis:

The former first-round pick out of LSU had only four catches for 59 yards this season. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Tony Gonzalez TE, Kansas City Chiefs 11/16/08, Time: 6:07 pm
News: Gonzalez had five receptions for only 39 yards on Sunday in a 30-20 loss to the Saints.
 Analysis:

Gonzalez now has 55 receptions for 583 yards so far this season and is a must-start against Buffalo in Week 12. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Dwayne Bowe WR, Kansas City Chiefs 11/16/08, Time: 6:05 pm
News: Bowe caught seven passes for 53 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday against New Orleans.
 Analysis:

Bowe has been coming on strong lately with at least six receptions in four of his last five games. The two touchdowns gives Bowe five the season. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Tyler Thigpen QB, Kansas City Chiefs 11/16/08, Time: 6:02 pm
 Status:
Hot
News: Thigpen completed 19-of-38 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns against the Saints on Sunday.
 Analysis:

Thigpen was picked off once but he has now thrown for over 200 yards in three of his last four games, with eight touchdown passes over that span. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Larry Johnson RB, Kansas City Chiefs 11/16/08, Time: 5:59 pm
News: Johnson rushed the ball 19 times for 67 yards and also caught one pass for 20 yards in a 30-20 loss to the Saints on Sunday.
 Analysis:

Johnson finally returned to the field after missing four games and played well. Johnson and the Chiefs are home to the Bills in Week 12. Consider him a RB2 against Buffalo. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Larry Johnson RB, Kansas City Chiefs 11/16/08, Time: 9:35 am
News: Larry Johnson will return to the field today, but NFL.com's Adam Schefter reports that the plan is to give him just 10 to 15 carries. That plan could change depend on how the game goes, but it limits his fantasy value a bit. He's certainly a risky option after missing the past three games, albeit one with considerable upside. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: Philip Rivers QB, San Diego Chargers 11/16/08, Time: 9:27 am
News: Combine the fact that Philip Rivers has tossed four interceptions in the past three games against inferior defenses with the return of LaMarr Woodley to help the Steelers' pass rush and the windchill that has Pittsburgh feeling like 20 degrees today and you have less-than-ideal conditions for the Chargers' passer. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: Chris Chambers WR, San Diego Chargers 11/16/08, Time: 8:14 am
News: Chris Chambers is reportedly healthy enough to start today. He came off the bench last week after starting and catching five passes in Week 8. Chambers previously missed two games with an ankle injury. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: Larry Johnson RB, Kansas City Chiefs 11/11/08, Time: 8:19 am
News: Johnson has served his one-game suspension is expected to play in Week 11 against the Saints.
 Analysis:

Johnson was off to a great start this season but injuries and off-field issues has led him to miss the last four games. Johnson should definitely be in your starting lineup against New Orleans but keep your expectations in check. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Antonio Cromartie DB, San Diego Chargers 11/09/08, Time: 8:53 am
News: CB Antonio Cromartie?s hip is still bothering him, but he was able to practice fully and is probable for today?s game. Now, he just has to start making more plays on the ball. Both of his interceptions came in the Monday night meeting with the Jets. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: Dwayne Bowe WR, Kansas City Chiefs 11/03/08, Time: 10:42 am
 Status:
Steady
News: Bowe caught just two passes for 29 yards in Sunday's overtime loss, but he did score a touchdown.
 Analysis:

Small numbers like that are going to occur on occassion, especially when you're quarterback has had three outings in which he only completed 14 passes. Bowe continues to carry solid value, though it could hurt if Mark Bradley continues to take away some catches. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Jamaal Charles RB, Kansas City Chiefs 11/03/08, Time: 10:39 am
 Status:
Hot
News: Charles took over primary rush duties following Kolby Smith's season-ending knee injury on Sunday and promptly took 18 carries for 106 yards.
 Analysis:

Charles is an explosive runner with tremendous speed who will probably be picked up in nearly all leagues this week where he wasn't previously owned. Be cautious about starting the rookie, though he could be solid against the Chargers. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Kolby Smith RB, Kansas City Chiefs 11/03/08, Time: 10:36 am
 Status:
Out
News: Smith took 10 carries for 46 yards and a touchdown in the first half on Sunday before a knee injury ended his season.
 Analysis:

The starting job now figures to fall to rookie Jamaal Charles, at least until/unless Larry Johnson gets back on the field. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Mark Bradley WR, Kansas City Chiefs 11/03/08, Time: 10:34 am
 Status:
Hot
News: Bradley caught four passes for a team-leading 65 yards on Sunday and threw a gorgeous touchdown pass to Tyler Thigpen on a trick play.
 Analysis:

He has caught nine balls over the past two games and quickly turned into a fantasy sleeper. A breakout was always expected from Bradley in Chicago, so maybe he's finally ready for one with the Chiefs, provided he can stay healthy. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Tyler Thigpen QB, Kansas City Chiefs 11/03/08, Time: 10:32 am
News: Thigpen threw for just 164 yards on Sunday, but he managed to avoid throwin an interception, tossed one touchdown pass, caught another and ran for 22 yards.
 Analysis:

All in all, an excellent day for the Chiefs third-string quarterback. He's going to have to find plenty more passing success before we can start giving him fantasy looks, though. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Kolby Smith RB, Kansas City Chiefs 11/02/08, Time: 10:53 am
News: It'll once again be Kolby Smith and Jamaal Charles in the Chiefs backfield, after Charles looked iffy early in the week with a bad ankle. Neither is a good fantasy starter today against the Bucs. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: Tamba Hali DE, Kansas City Chiefs 11/02/08, Time: 9:33 am
News: Tamba Hali has been moved back to left end, where he played through his first two seasons before moving to the right side this year. Hali notched his first sack of the year last week in that spot against the Jets. The Bucs bring a tougher matchup this week, but Hali should be a stronger IDP candidate the rest of the way. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: Larry Johnson RB, Kansas City Chiefs 10/31/08, Time: 7:47 pm
 Status:
Out
News: Johnson has been suspended by the league for Week 10 for violation of the personal conduct policy and will be deactivated this weekend by the Chiefs. The league reportedly could opt for further discipline, pending the outcome of his court case in early December.
 Analysis:

If there's a nice-looking option on the waiver wire, it might be time to give up on Johnson. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Tyler Thigpen QB, Kansas City Chiefs 10/29/08, Time: 10:37 am
News: The Chiefs ran a college style spread offense with a lot of no huddle to keep Thigpen comfortable.
 Analysis:

Spread offense or not, the Chiefs are still in disarray and their players not named Tony Gonzalez and Dewayne Bowe remain risky starts. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Larry Johnson RB, Kansas City Chiefs 10/28/08, Time: 10:45 am
News: Larry Johnson was charged with simple assault.
 Analysis:

With Johnson now formally charged I would expect Chiefs coach Herm Edwards to continue to sit Johnson.(SportsBuff.com)

Player: Tyler Thigpen QB, Kansas City Chiefs 10/27/08, Time: 11:36 am
News: Thigpen had 280 yards, 2 TDs, and no INTs against the Jets.
 Analysis:

This by no means should make anyone start Thigpen. Odds are he is more than likely going to revert back to his old INT prone ways. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Tony Gonzalez TE, Kansas City Chiefs 10/27/08, Time: 11:35 am
News: Gonzalez is making the best of a bad situation in Kansas City as he continues to add to his record. He caught 6 passes for 79 yards and a TD against the Jets.
 Analysis:

Gonzalez is stuck in Kansas City but continues to produce. He is one of the few Chiefs worth starting every week. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Dwayne Bowe WR, Kansas City Chiefs 10/27/08, Time: 11:29 am
News: Bowe is one of the lone bright spots for Kansas City this year and he continued that trend when he caught 6 passes for 102 yards against the Jets.
 Analysis:

Bowe has all the makings of a top WR, he just needs a consistent team around him to give him more TD opportunities. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Chris Chambers WR, San Diego Chargers 10/25/08, Time: 8:36 pm
 Status:
Questionable
News: Chambers is at least listed as questionable rather than doubtful this week, but he's still reportedly a game-time decision because of his sprained ankle.
 Analysis:

Don't take the chance with him. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Antonio Cromartie DB, San Diego Chargers 10/25/08, Time: 8:34 pm
 Status:
Questionable
News: Cromartie didn't practice Friday because of a hip injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in London.
 Analysis:

If he's able to start, Cromartie makes a pretty good IDP option against the pass-happy Saints. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Damon Huard QB, Kansas City Chiefs 10/25/08, Time: 7:57 pm
 Status:
Out
News: Huard has been placed on injured reserve because of the thumb he hurt in last week's loss to Tennessee. That leaves Tyler Thigpen as the starter. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: Craig Davis WR, San Diego Chargers 10/24/08, Time: 11:35 am
 Status:
Out
News: Davis has been ruled out for this weekend's game.
 Analysis:

Davis was going to benefit from Chambers' injury the most, however, his own injury has opened the door for Malcom Floyd.

Player: LaDainian Tomlinson RB, San Diego Chargers 10/24/08, Time: 11:32 am
News: Conditions in London are supposed to be pretty nasty. LT has been able to practice fully for most of the week.
 Analysis:

LT may not bust any long runs but with the weather conditions like they are should see 25-30 carries, maybe more depending on the Chargers situation. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Vincent Jackson WR, San Diego Chargers 10/24/08, Time: 11:25 am
News: Should Chambers not start this week Jackson will move into the number one WR spot.
 Analysis:

Jackson has all the physical tools a top WR needs, now if he can put it all together fantasy owners will have a dream come true. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Malcom Floyd WR, San Diego Chargers 10/24/08, Time: 11:23 am
 Status:
Hot
News: Floyd will see more play time with Chambers ailing.
 Analysis:

Chambers' injury has opened the door for Floyd to try to gain more looks in the future. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Chris Chambers WR, San Diego Chargers 10/24/08, Time: 11:21 am
 Status:
Cold Questionable
News: Chambers was limited in practice again today. He will be a game time decision.
 Analysis:

Chambers' injury will open the door for Malcom Floyd and Vincent Jackson to get more looks. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Dwayne Bowe WR, Kansas City Chiefs 10/23/08, Time: 11:13 am
News: Bowe has been relatively quiet after a nice rookie season last year. The lack of a quality starting QB in Kansas City has rendered Bowe very ineffective.
 Analysis:

Unless Bowe can find a way to start throwing the ball to himself, leave him off your starting line-up. Bowe is a very risky play in any fantasy format. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Kolby Smith RB, Kansas City Chiefs 10/23/08, Time: 11:09 am
News: Smith will get some of the work load made available by the benching of starting RB Larry Johnson. Smith has done little, as has the Kansas City offense, so far this season.
 Analysis:

Smith is a desperation play at best. The Jets employ a pretty good run defense and the Chiefs have no quarterback talent to help open up the field for the ground game. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Larry Johnson RB, Kansas City Chiefs 10/23/08, Time: 11:07 am
News: Johnson will be inactive in Week 8 when the Chiefs play the Jets. Johnson was involved in yet another off-the-field altercation and has been suspended by the team pending the outcome of legal investigations.
 Analysis:

Johnson has lost all the momentum he had from his break-out season of 2006. Even when he is on the field, he is a very risky play because he, and the Chiefs, are in such a state of chaos. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Antonio Gates TE, San Diego Chargers 10/22/08, Time: 1:26 pm
News: Gates has averaged 61 yards per game so far this season. He has been the target of a lot a passes so far this season.
 Analysis:

Gates is a solid option at TE but comes with a lofty price tag. The overall success of any offense usually dictates the productivity of the TE. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: LaDainian Tomlinson RB, San Diego Chargers 10/22/08, Time: 1:25 pm
News: LT has posted very modest numbers so far this season. A No. 1 pick in virtually every draft league format, LT has been a huge disappointment in 2008.
 Analysis:

LT will try to get on track this week in London. His lingering health issues are still there so he is a risky play considering his price tag. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Philip Rivers QB, San Diego Chargers 10/22/08, Time: 1:23 pm
News: Rivers and the Chargers go across the Atlantic Ocean to take on the Saints in London. The Bolts are scuffling in the record department but Rivers continues to post huge fantasy numbers.
 Analysis:

Rivers will again post good fantasy numbers this week against the Saints. The lack of production from LT has meant increased productivity from Rivers. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Larry Johnson RB, Kansas City Chiefs 10/21/08, Time: 5:26 am
 Status:
Cold
News: Johnson is expected to be suspended by the league soon after allegedly committing non-aggravated assault over the weekend.
 Analysis:

Johnson seems to be trying very hard to take himself off the field for the rest of the season. Any owner who has been relying on him needs to invest in Kolby Smith and/or work the trade desk. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Damon Huard QB, Kansas City Chiefs 10/20/08, Time: 5:49 am
News: Huard entered Sunday's game when Brodie Croyle left with a sprained knee but then left with a right thumb injury of his own. Croyle is out for the season, so if Huard's thumb is OK, he should take over the starting job in Week 8.
 Analysis:

Huard isn't much of a fantasy option, but he won't hurt the value of Dwayne Bowe or Tony Gonzalez. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Brodie Croyle QB, Kansas City Chiefs 10/20/08, Time: 5:48 am
 Status:
Out
News: Croyle went 9-of-10 in his return from a Week 1 shoulder injury Sunday but left with a sprained right knee that will end his season. Damon Huard should take over the job, as long as the right thumb he hurt Sunday doesn't keep him out.
 Analysis:

Croyle has been injured almost as many times as he's played so far in the NFL. Expect the team to draft a potential challenger in April. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Vincent Jackson WR, San Diego Chargers 10/19/08, Time: 8:01 pm
 Status:
Hot
News: Jackson caught four passes for 42 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss in Buffalo.
 Analysis:

It wasn't nearly as big a day as last week, but it's tough to complain when a No. 3 fantasy receiver comes away with a touchdown. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Antonio Gates TE, San Diego Chargers 10/19/08, Time: 7:59 pm
News: Gates caught four passes for 55 yards but didn't happen to make it into the end zone in Sunday's loss to the Bills. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: Malcom Floyd WR, San Diego Chargers 10/19/08, Time: 7:58 pm
 Status:
Hot
News: Floyd caught four passes for a team-high 65 yards and a touchdown on Sunday. It was the second straight game in which he scored while filling in for Chris Chambers.
 Analysis:

Floyd might have done enough over the past two games to earn a larger role even after Chambers returns to the lineup. He's certainly worth adding at this point. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: LaDainian Tomlinson RB, San Diego Chargers 10/19/08, Time: 7:55 pm
 Status:
Cold
News: Tomlinson garnered just 14 carries in Sunday's loss to Buffalo and ran for only 41 yards. He has run for less than 3 yards per carry in four of the past six games.
 Analysis:

PPR leaguers could at least enjoy his six catches on Sunday, but Tomlinson isn't doing much to help fantasy owners right now. Let's hope that he can get right after the Week 9 bye, though there's still one more game before that point. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Philip Rivers QB, San Diego Chargers 10/19/08, Time: 7:49 pm
News: Rivers threw for 208 yards two touchdowns and a pick in Sunday's loss to Buffalo. He also lost two fumbles.
 Analysis:

The passing numbers appear to be pretty typical for Rivers at this point, which make them a bit disappointing against a defense missing its No. 1 corner (Terrence McGee) and top pass rusher (Aaron Schobel). The three turnovers, obviously, don't help anyone. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Chris Chambers WR, San Diego Chargers 10/17/08, Time: 8:03 pm
 Status:
Doubtful
News: Chambers missed practice all week and is listed as doubtful for Sunday's visit to Buffalo because of the ankle he hurt against the Dolphins.
 Analysis:

It might not be until Week 10 -- after the Week 9 bye -- that owners can consider using Chambers again. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Tony Gonzalez TE, Kansas City Chiefs 10/17/08, Time: 9:15 am
News: Gonzalez reportedly blocked trades to Atlanta and Buffalo before the deadline.
 Analysis:

Why Gonzalez would refuse to leave the black hole that is Kansas City is anyone's guess. Expect TG's production to continue to disappoint given his team's situation. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Kolby Smith RB, Kansas City Chiefs 10/16/08, Time: 8:25 pm
News: Smith will start in place of Larry Johnson on Sunday against the Titans. Johnson will reportedly be suspended for the game by the team after showing up late for a team meeting.
 Analysis:

Pay no attention to Smith this week, as he has a bad matchup with Tennessee. Johnson wouldn't even have made a decent play here. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Larry Johnson RB, Kansas City Chiefs 10/16/08, Time: 8:17 pm
 Status:
Out
News: Johnson will miss Sunday's matchup with the Titans, reportedly for showing up late to a team meeting. Coach Herm Edwards has said the decision is not related to the simple assault charges Johnson is facing.
 Analysis:

The upside here is that Johnson wouldn't have made a good fantasy play anyway against the Titans. Kolby Smith is expected to start in his place. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Philip Rivers QB, San Diego Chargers 10/16/08, Time: 1:23 pm
News: Rivers averages over 20 points in every fantasy format and limits mistakes. San Diego looks to be righting the ship and Rivers will continue to produce.
 Analysis:

Taking on Buffalo in Buffalo is never an easy task, but Rivers should do well again this week. I look for him to hang at least a 20 on the board. (SportsBuff.com)
