PLAYER UPDATES Provided By SportsBuff.com
Player: Ryan Grant RB, Green Bay Packers 10/05/08, Time: 3:56 pm
 Status:
Hot
News: Grant had his best game since Week One with 83 yards on 18 carries.
 Analysis:

Grant has burned a lot of fantasy owners who took him early. He has been dealing with a hamstring injury - a kind of injury that tends to linger. He had 18 of the 23 Packer carries and might be a better play in the future. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Aaron Rodgers QB, Green Bay Packers 10/05/08, Time: 3:54 pm
 Status:
Hot
News: Rodgers overcame his shoulder injury to have a productive game. He threw for 313 yards and three TD's.
 Analysis:

Rodgers used the Packers system very well. He threw to eight different receivers and none had more than five catches. He looks like a solid every week fantasy play. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Maurice Morris RB, Seattle Seahawks 10/05/08, Time: 11:06 am
News: RB Maurice Morris is inactive today against the Giants. He was not expected to make much of an impact anyway, but his absence could afford T.J. Duckett a little sleeper potential. Duckett scored three touchdowns in the team's past two games. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: Aaron Rodgers QB, Green Bay Packers 10/05/08, Time: 10:36 am
News: Adam Schefter reports that it appears as though Aaron Rodgers will start today for the Packers. The injury obviously makes him a risky fantasy proposition, but a favorable matchup against the Falcons means that you can start him in the absence of another strong option. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: A.J. Hawk LB, Green Bay Packers 10/05/08, Time: 10:29 am
News: OLB A.J. Hawk is active and will play today despite missing practice this week with a groin injury. He's a solid play against a run-heavy Atlanta offense, though playing a guy with an injured groin always comes with risk. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: Atari Bigby DB, Green Bay Packers 10/05/08, Time: 10:27 am
News: SS Atari Bigby is inactive for today, as expected. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: Maurice Morris RB, Seattle Seahawks 10/05/08, Time: 8:03 am
News: Maurice Morris is said to be a game-time decision for today as he returns from a Week 1 knee injury. Even if he plays, though, his contributions could be minimal. Fantasy owners should not consider him among their Week 5 options. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: Aaron Rodgers QB, Green Bay Packers 10/05/08, Time: 7:51 am
News: The decision on whether Aaron Rodgers will play today is expected to be made 90 minutes before kickoff, according to ESPN's John Clayton. For the non-math folks out there, that should be about 11:30 Eastern. Signs seem to point to him playing, though it might be safer to go in a different direction if you can, even if Rodgers does go. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: Bobby Engram WR, Seattle Seahawks 10/05/08, Time: 5:57 am
News: Bobby Engram will see his first game action of the season today against the Giants. He's not expected to start but will occupy his familiar slot role and is expected to be targeted plenty. Engram should be a solid fantasy play in PPR leagues, though owners in other formats should probably hold off. (SportsBuff.com)
Player: Deion Branch WR, Seattle Seahawks 10/05/08, Time: 5:55 am
News: Deion Branch will be back on the field today for the first time since tearing his ACL last December. He's expected to start opposite Keary Colbert or Billy McMullen, though fantasy owners should wait a week before getting him into their lineups, if possible.
(SportsBuff.com)
Player: Deion Branch WR, Seattle Seahawks 10/04/08, Time: 8:18 pm
News: Branch practiced all week and is expected to play for the first time on Sunday. He missed the first three games while recovering from a torn ACL suffered late last season.
 Analysis:

Branch isn't expected to get as much work as Engram, and it would be smart to exercise more caution with Branch. The return from a serious knee injury would seem to be tougher than that from a broken collarbone. Don't start Branch yet. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Bobby Engram WR, Seattle Seahawks 10/04/08, Time: 8:15 pm
News: Engram will make his 2008 debut in Week 5 after missing the first three games while recovering from a broken clavicle.
 Analysis:

Coach Mike Holmgren has called Engram the "soul of the team" this week and says that he'll get plenty of looks from the start. Engram makes for a solid play in PPR leagues, though others should hold off. Engram has never been much of a touchdown producer. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Maurice Morris RB, Seattle Seahawks 10/04/08, Time: 8:13 pm
 Status:
Questionable
News: Morris was a limited participant in practice on Friday and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game. He's been out since Week 1 with a knee injury.
 Analysis:

Even if he manages to play against the Giants, it's tough to expect Morris to be all that effective. Figure on Julius Jones being the starter and the featured runner. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Matt Flynn QB, Green Bay Packers 10/03/08, Time: 8:00 pm
 Status:
Steady
News: Flynn will get the start on Sunday against the Falcons if Aaron Rodgers shoulder injury prevents him from playing.
 Analysis:

Flynn threw his first professional pass last Sunday. He went 2-for-5 for six yards. The Packer are at home and Flynn could be a decent play for the risk takers out there. I don't think I'd go with him. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Aaron Rodgers QB, Green Bay Packers 10/03/08, Time: 7:57 pm
 Status:
Questionable
News: Rodgers will be a game time decision on Sunday. According to ESPN, coach Mike McCarthy will decide 90 minutes before the game.
 Analysis:

The Packer backup is Matt Flynn. Duck Rodgers, as I like to call him, has been a nice fantasy starter so far this season and has a nice match up in the Falcons. I'd steer clear of the situation and start someone else. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Aaron Rodgers QB, Green Bay Packers 10/03/08, Time: 10:16 am
 Status:
Questionable
News: Aaron Rodgers was a no-show at practice on Thursday. Rookie Matt Flynn took most of the reps with the first team offense.
 Analysis:

Rodgers will be a game-time decision based on his ability to throw the ball downfield. If he is able to play, he should be considered a good fantasy option for the Packers? home game against Atlanta. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Atari Bigby DB, Green Bay Packers 10/02/08, Time: 7:56 pm
 Status:
Doubtful
News: Bigby is still not practicing because of the injured hamstring that has kept him out of two straight games.
 Analysis:

He doesn't appear likely to return for the Week 5 matchup with Atlanta. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Donald Driver WR, Green Bay Packers 10/02/08, Time: 7:08 am
News: Donald Driver was held to just one catch for eight yards last week against Tampa Bay. That is Driver?s lowest output in over three seasons.
 Analysis:

Driver may or may not rebound this week against Atlanta. The Falcons pass defense is suspect but Driver?s productivity may rest on the health of Aaron Rodgers right shoulder. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Aaron Rodgers QB, Green Bay Packers 10/01/08, Time: 8:37 pm
News: Take this for what it is worth, but Packer QB Aaron Rodgers was extremely limited at practice today. Reports say that Rodgers was only allowed to hand off just a few times in practice today and then he was ushered off the field.
 Analysis:

Rookies Matt Flynn and Brian Brohm split the reps in Rodgers absence today. Flynn has been the active QB behind Rodgers so far this year. Watch for further news on Rodgers? health. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Cullen Jenkins DT, Green Bay Packers 10/01/08, Time: 11:51 am
 Status:
Cold Out
News: Cullen Jenkins one of the Packers best performers and a leader on the D-line was put on IR today.
 Analysis:

The Packers D was already banged up heading into a match up against Atlanta. Now to go with Al Harris and AJ Hawk they lost Cullen Jenkins. This will probably cause a very long day for the rest of the Packers D trying to stop Michael "the Burner" Turner. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Cullen Jenkins DE, Green Bay Packers 10/01/08, Time: 9:12 am
 Status:
Out
News: Packer DE Cullen Jenkins appears to be headed to the IR with a torn pectorals muscle. His agent reports that Jenkins is done for the year.
 Analysis:

The already depleated Packer D just took another hit. Look for Falcon QB Matt Ryan and RB Michael Turner to ppost solid numbers this week. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Deion Branch WR, Seattle Seahawks 09/30/08, Time: 12:22 pm
News: Deion Branch is inching closer to being game ready. His surgically repaired knee is progressing as planned and he may be ready as early as this week as the Seahawks take on the Giants.
 Analysis:

The Seahawk offense has looked sharp so far this season. Coming off the bye week, look for the Seahawks to have a good offensive game plan and adding Branch would only help their chances of putting up big fantasy numbers. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Aaron Rodgers QB, Green Bay Packers 09/30/08, Time: 11:40 am
News: Packer QB Aaron Rodgers has stated that he intends on playing Sunday at home against Atlanta. Rodgers sustained a sprained throwing shoulder in Sunday's loss at Tampa.
 Analysis:

The strain on Rodgers' shoulder could mean a greater need for an effective ground game for the Packers. Ryan Grant and Brandon Jackson could see more carries. (Sportsbuff.com)

Player: Cullen Jenkins DE, Green Bay Packers 09/29/08, Time: 10:23 pm
 Status:
Questionable
News: Jenkins left Sunday's game early because of a strained pectoral muscle. There is reportedly some worry, though, that the injury could actually be a tear.
 Analysis:

Jenkins appears likely to miss at least the coming week but could be out for an extended period. It's a shame, because he has been a breakout IDP performer to this point. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: A.J. Hawk LB, Green Bay Packers 09/29/08, Time: 10:18 pm
 Status:
Questionable
News: Hawk suffered what Coach Mike McCarthy called "a pretty good strain" to his groin in Sunday's loss to Tampa and could miss some time. No word has come yet, though, on whether he will.
 Analysis:

Hawk has enjoyed a tremendous start to the season, and his absence would hurt IDP owners. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Ryan Grant RB, Green Bay Packers 09/28/08, Time: 8:56 pm
 Status:
Cold
News: Grant got just 15 carries and gained only 20 yards against the Bucs on Sunday.
 Analysis:

This is particularly disappointing because the Packers back was the healthiest he has been this season. Fortunately, a matchup with the Falcons awaits in Week 5. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Greg Jennings WR, Green Bay Packers 09/28/08, Time: 7:16 pm
 Status:
Hot
News: Jennings caught six passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns -- his first two of the season -- in the loss to the Bucs on Sunday. It was his third straight 100-yard performance, and the game before that ended with 91 yards.
 Analysis:

Jennings has taken over as the Packers' clear No. 1 receiver after building his fantasy value a year ago with a rather fluky touchdown total. He's an every-week starter going forward. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Aaron Rodgers QB, Green Bay Packers 09/28/08, Time: 7:08 pm
 Status:
Questionable
News: Rodgers said after the loss to Tampa Bay that he thought he had suffered a separation or dislocation to his throwing shoulder. Coach Mike McCarthy called in a bruise in his press conference.
 Analysis:

We'll have to see, but any injury to his throwing shoulder is obviously bad news. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Atari Bigby DB, Green Bay Packers 09/26/08, Time: 8:33 pm
 Status:
Doubtful
News: Bigby continued to miss practice with his hamstring injury this week and is doubtful for Sunday's trip to Tampa.
 Analysis:

We'll probably have to wait until we actually see him make it through a game before getting him back into IDP lineups. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Ryan Grant RB, Green Bay Packers 09/26/08, Time: 8:31 pm
News: Finally, Grant no longer shows up on the injury report.
 Analysis:

Now, if only he can show up in the end zone. Go ahead and take a chance on him doing so. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Atari Bigby DB, Green Bay Packers 09/24/08, Time: 9:09 pm
 Status:
Doubtful
News: Bigby missed practice Wednesday with the hamstring injury that kept him out in Week 3. It's unknown whether he'll be able to go this Sunday.
 Analysis:

Aaron Rouse put up good numbers in his absence, so Bigby owners should consider him in Week 4. Even if Bigby returns, his tenuous hamstring doesn't make for a safe bet on Sunday. (SportsBuff.com)

Player: Aaron Rouse DB, Green Bay Packers 09/23/08, Time: 8:26 pm
News: Rouse led the team with 12 tackles and nine solos in place of Atari Bigby on Sunday night.
 Analysis:

Bigby might not be able to go in Week 4 either, which would make Rouse worth IDP consideration again. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Nick Collins DB, Green Bay Packers 09/23/08, Time: 7:06 pm
 Status:
Questionable
News: Collins left Sunday night's loss twice because of a contusion in his lower back. The second time, he didn't return to the field. The team has yet to give his status for the upcoming game.
 Analysis:

Collins has picked off a pass in each of the past two contests but has continued the mediocre tackle output that has been the norm for him. He still doesn't make for a strong IDP when he's healthy. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Nick Barnett LB, Green Bay Packers 09/23/08, Time: 6:56 pm
 Status:
Probable
News: Barnett sprained his elbow in Sunday night's loss to the Cowboys and had to leave the field in the first half. He did return before the game was over, though.
 Analysis:

That would indicate to me that Barnett is likely to play in Week 4. We'll what comes, though. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Leroy Hill LB, Seattle Seahawks 09/22/08, Time: 10:01 pm
News: Hill led the team with 10 solo tackles on Sunday against the Rams.
 Analysis:

It's easy to lose him behind Lofa Tatupu and Julian Peterson, but Hill will remind us every so often that he's pretty good, too. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Julian Peterson LB, Seattle Seahawks 09/22/08, Time: 9:59 pm
News: Peterson added a sack and a forced fumble to his three solo tackles against the Rams on Sunday. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)
Player: Charles Woodson DB, Green Bay Packers 09/22/08, Time: 7:24 pm
News: Starting corner Al Harris will miss the rest of the season with a ruptured spleen unless he finds a doctor who offers a different diagnosis.
 Analysis:

Woodson could take a slight hit to his fantasy value in Harris' absence. A replacement on the other side will look much more attractive than Harris or Woodson. Of course, the veteran is a boom-or-bust type, so you always start him at your own risk. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Al Harris DB, Green Bay Packers 09/22/08, Time: 7:15 pm
 Status:
Out
News: Harris could miss the rest of the season after rupturing his spleen in a collision with teammate A.J. Hawk on Sunday. Harris is seeking a second opinion before shutting it down.
 Analysis:

Harris isn't much of an IDP candidate, but his absence could hurt the value of Charles Woodson. Opponents would likely favor targeting Harris' replacement (probably Tramon Williams) over challenging Woodson too often. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Aaron Rouse DB, Green Bay Packers 09/20/08, Time: 8:49 pm
News: Rouse will start for the Packers on Sunday night in place of Atari Bigby. The regular strong safety will be out with a hamstring injury.
 Analysis:

Rouse, who started three games when free safety Nick Collins was hurt last season, intercepted two passes as a rookie. He could be a deep IDP sleeper. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Atari Bigby DB, Green Bay Packers 09/20/08, Time: 8:47 pm
 Status:
Out
News: Bigby will miss this week's game with his hamstring injury. Aaron Rouse will start in his place.
 Analysis:

This takes away a top IDP, though Rouse could be a sleeper. Let's hope Bigby returns to Week 4. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Ryan Grant RB, Green Bay Packers 09/20/08, Time: 9:07 am
 Status:
Probable
News: Grant was a full participant in practice on Friday and is listed as probable for the week.
 Analysis:

If you're deciding between him and other top options, it might not be a bad idea to go in another direction in light of his 20 yards on 15 carries against the lowly Lions. If you're other options aren't on Grant's level generally, though, you should probably go ahead and take a chance on the Packer back. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Bobby Engram WR, Seattle Seahawks 09/19/08, Time: 6:47 am
 Status:
Out
News: Engram is expected to be ready to go after the team's Week 4 bye.
 Analysis:

If he sits on your waiver wire, now might be a good time to stash him on your bench. Especially in a PPR league, Engram should be able to contribute right away. He led Seattle with 92 catches last year. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Deion Branch WR, Seattle Seahawks 09/19/08, Time: 6:44 am
 Status:
Out
News: Although Branch has participated in practices on a limited basis, he's not expected to play until at least Week 5, after Seattle's bye.
 Analysis:

The team will certainly be ready for him whenever he can return. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Ryan Grant RB, Green Bay Packers 09/17/08, Time: 3:38 pm
 Status:
Steady
News: Grant was held out of practice Wednesday because of his lingering hamstring issues.
 Analysis:

The Packers are just being cautious, and Grant will most likely play Sunday. He'll probably start taking reps Thursday and Friday. (Marc Pruitt/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Keary Colbert WR, Seattle Seahawks 09/16/08, Time: 10:10 pm
News: The Broncos traded Colbert to Seattle on Wednesday, reportedly for a late-round draft pick.
 Analysis:

The former USC Trojan has done little since a nice rookie season despite having plenty of chances in Carolina and working in a relatively shallow Denver receiving corps. He should get an opportunity again with the Seahawks, but it's tough to expect much from him. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Koren Robinson WR, Seattle Seahawks 09/16/08, Time: 10:07 pm
News: The Seahawks have made the move we were all anticipating, re-signing former their first-round draft pick.
 Analysis:

Robinson's talent has never been questioned, but repeated DUIs had led teams to voluntarily remove him from the league. If he can stay under control, there is certainly opportunity in Seattle with all of the injuries. Robinson could even move into a starting role once he works off the rust ... at least if that happens before Bobby Engram or Deion Branch returns. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Logan Payne WR, Seattle Seahawks 09/16/08, Time: 8:02 pm
 Status:
Out
News: Payne became the latest Seahawks receiver to go down for the season when he tore an MCL on Sunday.
 Analysis:

On the plus side, at least the team can get a group rate on surgeries. Also, it can only be a matter of time before Seattle signs Andre Rison. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Lawrence Jackson DE, Seattle Seahawks 09/16/08, Time: 12:42 pm
 Status:
Hot
News: Jackson notched his first two NFL sacks in the overtime loss to the Niners on Sunday.
 Analysis:

The fact that his team compiled eight sacks against San Francisco certainly seems to speak more to the opponent's vulnerability than Jackson's individual performance. Still, a pair of sacks can never be seen as anything but good news for a young end. We'll see what he can do against Orlando Pace this week. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)

Player: Aaron Kampman DE, Green Bay Packers 09/15/08, Time: 10:43 pm
News: Kampman posted a sack and a half against the Lions on Sunday. That gives him 5.5 over his past three games against Detroit.
 Analysis:

In case you missed it before, Detroit is a tremendous matchup for defenders, especially those named Aaron Kampman. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)
