RENTON, Wash. (AP) - Continuing the focus on defense, the Seattle Seahawks selected cornerback Jeremy Lane out of Northwestern State in Louisiana with the first of Seattle's two sixth-round picks in Saturday's NFL draft.
Lane was taken with the 172nd overall pick and was the fifth defensive player taken by the Seahawks.
Lane starred for the Demons of the Football Championship Subdivision. He is 6-foot, 190 pounds, but didn't start full-time until his senior season, when he had 41 tackles and two interceptions. One of his best games came on the biggest stage when he had a season-high nine tackles and his only sack at LSU.
