NEW YORK (AP) - Comments on the New Orleans Saints by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (21)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 16) - Brees passing Unitas as impressive at it gets.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 17) - After finally getting first victory, Drew Brees and company could start rolling after their bye week.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 23)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 16) - That kind of win could help turn things around but the defense will continue to hold them back.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 21) - Finally a piece of good news for a beaten down Saints team: Drew Brees breaks Johnny U's record for most consecutive games with a TD pass, and New Orleans gets on the board with a win.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 25) - Now that the Saints have finally won they have to stop playing. New Orleans has its bye this week along with Carolina, Chicago and Jacksonville.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 23) - So the Saints' offense is rolling again and Drew Brees just tacked up another record. A porous defense will keep New Orleans from going anywhere.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 21) - One game doesn't make a trend, but at least it's a start for an embattled franchise.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 23) - The Saints defense took a big step this weekend with five sacks of Philip Rivers. All the defense has to do is slow teams down and Brees will do the rest. Look for a steady climb up the rankings.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 23) - Sean Peyton was in the house and all was good. Congratulations to Drew Brees on breaking Johnny Unitas' record.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 27) - Drew Brees was happy that the NFL allowed Sean Payton to attend last Sunday's 31-24 victory over San Diego. The problem: Payton's suspension has resumed as New Orleans readies for a two-game road trip to Tampa Bay and Denver.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 21) - Apparently all they need is to have Sean Payton in the stadium and they are a different team.
