Georgia coordinator won't discuss Saints

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham said Wednesday he expected to remain with the Bulldogs, but he would not address reports that he's under consideration for the same job with the New Orleans Saints.

Grantham and former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan are reportedly being considered by the Saints, who fired Steve Spagnuolo last month after New Orleans gave up more yards (7,042) than any team in NFL history.

``Right now, I'm the defensive coordinator at the University of Georgia,'' Grantham said during a news conference for national signing day. ``I'm certainly looking forward to coaching those guys.''

Last year, Grantham was mentioned as a candidate with the Atlanta Falcons before announcing he would stay with the Bulldogs. This season, his name came up when the Philadelphia Eagles were looking for a new coordinator.

Grantham, who coached in the NFL before taking the Georgia job in 2010, stressed that he's happy with his current position. But it seems clear from the way his contract is structured that he hopes to one day return to the pros as a coordinator.

``I love Georgia,'' he said. ``I think this is a great place. My family loves it. I love it. I fully expect to here.''

But the 46-year-old Grantham wouldn't say he was definitely staying in Athens. He said he owes it to his family to at least look at any potential offers that come up.

``I know a lot of people. I get a lot of inquiries all the time,'' he said. ``There's no way I'm going to comment on any particular one, because if I did I couldn't do my job. I've got to get mat drills going in about 30 minutes. I'm just going to leave it at that.''

Grantham's stock rose dramatically in 2011 when the Bulldogs ranked fifth national in total defense, allowing just 277.2 yards per game. This past season, despite having Jarvis Jones and several other NFL prospects, Georgia slipped to 32nd in the rankings (357.8 yards).
