TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got active Tuesday in free agency by signing five players: kicker Nate Kaeding, defensive linemen George Selvie and Derek Landri, running back Brian Leonard, and wide receiver Steve Smith.

None projects as a likely starter for Tampa, which has made only one impact signing so far in free agency by adding All-Pro safety Dashon Goldson.

Kaeding's career field goal percentage (.862) ranks as second in NFL history to Mike Vanderjagt's .865. Kaeding has played eight NFL seasons, first with San Diego, then with Miami. In his career, he has made 181 of 210 field goals and 352 of 354 extra points (.994).

Kaeding will try to unseat Connor Barth, who signed a long-term deal in 2012.

Heading into his seventh season, Smith has been plagued by injuries in recent years with St. Louis and Philadelphia after making the Pro Bowl with the Giants in 2009. Buccaneers offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan was his position coach in New York from 2007-09 and they won Super Bowl together there.

Smith has only 25 receptions in the last two seasons since undergoing microfracture left knee surgery.

Landri also enters his seventh season. He was with the Eagles in 2011 and `12, and also played for Jacksonville and Carolina. Landri has only 23 starts in 79 pro games.

Selvie spent 2012 in Jacksonville, where he had 57 tackles and three sacks. He enters his fourth season.

Leonard was with the Bengals the last four years and spent the previous two with the Rams. He has 174 rushes for 646 yards and 113 receptions for 814 yards and has scored just one touchdown.
