NEW YORK (AP) - Tight end Jeff Cumberland signed his one-year tender offer to return to the New York Jets on Monday, possibly as the starter to replace the departed Dustin Keller.

Cumberland is expected to have a more prominent role in the offense after setting career highs last year in his third NFL season with 29 catches for 359 yards and three touchdowns.

His playing time increased after Keller, who signed with Miami as a free agent, went down with a sprained left ankle.

The tender signed by Cumberland is worth $1.3 million.

``Blessed to continue my NFL career with the (at)nyjets first class organization!'' Cumberland wrote on his Twitter page. ``BIG year ahead!''

The Jets signed the 25-year-old Cumberland as an undrafted free agent in 2010 out of Illinois.

Notes: Backup QB Tim Tebow, likely to be released or traded in the next few weeks, is expected to report for voluntary workouts when they begin next Monday, the New York Post first reported. Tebow was leapfrogged on the depth chart last season by third-stringer Greg McElroy. The Jets have already signed veteran David Garrard to compete with Mark Sanchez for the starting job, and the Jets could target a quarterback at some point in the draft. ... The Jets will have a pair of top-rated quarterback prospects in for visits this week: West Virginia's Geno Smith, a possible top-10 pick, and Florida State's EJ Manuel. Virginia offensive lineman Oday Aboushi, a potential second-round pick from Staten Island, met with the team Monday.
