By The Associated Press
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - The Washington Redskins have picked up the fifth-year option on linebacker Ryan Kerrigan, keeping him under club control through the 2015 season.
The Redskins had until Saturday to make the move, and general manager Bruce Allen had indicated the team would do so.
Kerrigan was the No. 16 overall pick in the 2011 draft. His salary will be about $1.5 million this season and approximately $7 million during the option year.
Kerrigan has yet to miss a game since entering the league. He has 24 1/2 sacks in three seasons and made the Pro Bowl after the 2012 season.
