Handicapping Atlanta (9.5)
Check out more NFL Future Odds at BetDSI.eu!

The Atlanta Falcons went from Super Bowl runner-ups two years ago to a third place team in the NFC South last season. The Falcons did make the playoffs and they got a Wild Card victory over the Rams before losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Eagles.

Atlanta didn’t do much in the off-season, so they bring back most of the same players on both sides of the ball.  The Falcons feature Matt Ryan and Julio Jones on offense and Vic Beasley on defense.  Oddsmakers think Atlanta will have a similar record to a year ago, as they set the win total for the Falcons for this season at 9.5.

Let’s look at Atlanta’s schedule and predict whether they will go over or under that number.

Atlanta Falcons 2018 Win Total - per BetDSI.eu
Over 9.5 (-118)
Under 9.5 (-112)

Atlanta Falcons 2018 Schedule Analysis

Thursday, Sept. 6, at Philadelphia Eagles
The Falcons get an immediate chance for revenge in the season opener, as they visit the defending Super Bowl champs.  If there is a time to play the Eagles it could be early, as Carson Wentz works his way back into top form coming off an ACL injury.

Sunday, Sept. 16, vs. Carolina Panthers
The Falcons have won the last four at home against the Panthers and there is no reason to think that streak ends here, as the Falcons will be playing with extra rest.

Sunday, Sept. 23, vs. New Orleans Saints
The Saints are very capable of winning in Atlanta and the matchups between the Falcons and Saints are almost always close.

Sunday, Sept. 30, vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Eagles get a favorable start to their season with a three-game homestand that concludes against the Bengals.  The Eagles should roll at home in this one.

Sunday, Oct. 7, at Pittsburgh Steelers
The Eagles face a tough road test against a talented Pittsburgh offense, but the Eagles have shown they are more than capable of shutting down a potent offense.

Sunday, Oct. 14, vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This is a letdown spot for the Eagles, but they have won three straight overall in this series and they should find a way to get the home win.

Monday, Oct. 22, vs. New York Giants
The Eagles should be primed for this Monday Night Football contest and even though the Giants should be improved, the Eagles should get the win.

Sunday, Oct. 29: Bye

Sunday, Nov. 4, at Washington Redskins
The Redskins have a new quarterback in Alex Smith, but this is not a good spot for them even at home, as the Falcons will be coming off their bye.

Sunday, Nov. 11, at Cleveland Browns
The Falcons should have no excuse for not beating a Cleveland team that is improved, but still not close to Atlanta’s level.

Sunday, Nov. 18, vs. Dallas Cowboys
The Falcons had no trouble last season against the Cowboys, but it should be noted that Ezekiel Elliott didn’t play.  Elliott should be back, but this one is at home and Atlanta should win.

Sunday, Nov. 26, at New Orleans Saints
The Falcons have a tough test on Thanksgiving, as they visit the Saints. The Saints should find a way to get the home win.

Sunday, Dec. 2, vs. Baltimore
The Falcons are simply the better team than the Ravens and they should get the home win.

Sunday, Dec. 9, at Green Bay
This one looks like a road loss for Atlanta, as they almost never play well in cold weather and winning at Lambeau is tough for any team.

Sunday, Dec. 16, vs. Arizona
This may not be a sure win for the Falcons, as they will be coming off a game against the Packers and the Falcons have Carolina next week. They also face new Arizona coach Steve Wilks who coached with Carolina.

Sunday, Dec. 25, at Carolina
This game won’t be easy, as the Panthers are usually very tough at home. This contest could end up deciding a playoff spot.

Sunday, Dec. 30, at Tampa Bay
The season finale is no bargain for the Falcons, as the Bucs are much tougher to play at home.

2018 Atlanta Falcons Season Win Total Prediction

The schedule for the Falcons is favorable for 2018. If the Falcons can get Matt Ryan back to playing at high level there is no reason this team shouldn’t go 10-6 or 11-5 and go over their win total of 9.5.
