Hilton Super Contest:
Heading into Week 9 of the SuperContest, we have a few lines that have changed this week -- most notably the St. Louis Rams at the San Francisco 49ers.
Cyril Burger, race and sports book manager at the Las Vegas propety, has to come up with the lines for the contest by Tuesday morning. Burger said, “A game like the Rams-49ers, with Garcia out of the 49ers lineup as of yesterday, has the line moving up to Rams minus 5 at our book. But in the contest you’re only laying 2 1/2”.
It's no surprise as contest players have chosen the road favorite Rams as this week's consensus play, with 132 out of 346 players on the Rams minus 2 1/2. The 49ers are off a road loss to Arizona, while the Rams are off a road win at Pittsburgh.
The No. 2 selection by a slim margin was Indianapolis as a road underdog (plus 3 1/2) over Miami. The Colts were picked 129 times coming off a non-covering win against Houston, while Miami is off a Monday night game on the West Coast (Arizona) versus San Diego.
Oakland, a road 'chalk' of minus 2 1/2 at lowly Detroit, is the contest's third pick, with 114 contestants on the disappointing Raiders. Oakland is off a bye week and the Lions lost to the Bears in Chicago.
Just behind were 112 people choosing Dallas minus 3 1/2 at home over Washington. The Redskins are off a bye while the Cowboys were blanked at Tampa Bay, 16-0.
This Stations Casino contest has a similar flavor to the Hilton, with both contests sharing three of the four top selections this week. Following is a look at what the gamblers challenge has to offer.
Contest players have also chosen the road favorite Rams as this week's consensus play over the 49ers, but in this contest the Rams are laying three points. Fourty-four contestants picked the Rams.
The No. 2 choice is Oakland minus 2 1/2 at Detroit, with 40 contestants selecting the defending AFC champion.
The No. 3 consensus play has the N.Y. Giants as a quasi road favorite laying 2 to the N.Y. Jets. The Jets will serve as the home team in this battle between the two residents of Giants Stadium. A total of 39 players are on the Giants.
The No. 4 pick has Dallas minus 4 at home over Washington. We saw 36 contestants on the Cowboys.
