FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -The Arizona Cardinals agreed to the terms of a six-year contract with quarterback Matt Leinart that can bring the rookie up to $51 million, Leinart's agent said Monday night.
Leinart, who was expected to begin training camp Tuesday after a two-week absence, will be guaranteed $14 million, said Tom Condon, Leinart's agent.
The rookie could earn up to $51 million if he meets the terms of escalation clauses that would give him additional money the more he plays.
Earlier Monday, Arizona Cardinals coach Dennis Green criticized Leinart and his representatives for rejecting ``a more than generous'' offer from the team.
Leinart is the only first-round pick unsigned.
ESPN first reported the signing on its first broadcast of ``Monday Night Football.''
