LAS VEGAS -- Super Bowl week is like no other week of the year. In most of America, Super Sunday is an event. Here in Las Vegas, it is a holiday. Betting shops are busy posting prop after prop after prop on their betting boards.
Early bettors were on the underdog Panthers as the line held steady last week at 6 ½. The public money has come in on New England to set the line back to seven, where it opened and should hold steady at a touchdown.
The Imperial Palace sports book has more props then you could ever figure out with over 170 different ways to place a wager on this year’s big game. A few of the more interesting props posted at Jay Korngay’s sports book has Shaq (points and rebounds +5 ½) vs. longest touchdown of the game (–5 ½).
Another bet is Oklahoma-Nebraska total points in college basketball (-32 ½) vs. Antowain Smith's rushing and receiving yards combined (+32 ½). Both of these creative props are (–115) for each side.
The Hilton Super book had just over 60 prop plays with many cross over sports props to whet your appetite for Super Sunday. Cyril Burger, the Sports Book manager told VegasInsider.com, “By far our most popular prop play with the public this year is Stephen Davis' rushing yards of 72 ½. The Hilton had early money coming in on the under, but as of this week, most money was coming in on the over."
The Hilton is hosting a Super Bowl bash for an entry fee in the Hilton Center ballroom.
There will be over 50 Casino/Sportsbooks Super Bowl parties around Sin City this year, so wherever you end up, good luck with your wagering and have fun.
