The Boston Bruins are hoping a red-hot Brad Marchand can help them avoid another loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Bruins winger will try to add to his goal-scoring binge Saturday by scoring for the first time in seven matchups against the Flyers.

Marchand has six goals in his last four games after scoring twice in a 3-2 victory over Los Angeles on Monday, including the tiebreaking goal with 11:07 to go.

"When bounces are going your way, you get more confidence," said Marchand, who also had two goals in Sunday's 3-2 shootout loss in Chicago. "I think that's all that it is. I think early on I didn't feel confident in anything I was doing. Hopefully it'll continue."

Boston (31-15-3) is 2-0-1 in its last three and will try to add to that momentum by avoiding a third consecutive defeat to the Flyers (25-21-6) in the first matchup between the clubs this season.

"It's going to be nice to renew that rivalry," Boston coach Claude Julien said. "There's usually some pretty interesting games against those guys. I'm looking forward to it."

Philadelphia is on the verge of matching its longest skid of the season after going 0-2-1 in its last three. The Flyers gave up four unanswered goals in a 5-2 defeat at Columbus on Thursday.

Philadelphia, which hasn't lost four in a row since Oct. 11-17, has allowed 31 goals during a 2-4-2 stretch. The Flyers gave up 33 goals while going 10-2-1 in their previous 13 games.

Philadelphia has also yielded 16 goals while dropping three of four at home after allowing 17 during a 10-game win streak there.

Steve Mason is 1-2-1 with a 4.21 goals-against average in his last five games after going 18-10-4 with a 2.35 GAA in his first 33.

"It starts in our own end breaking the puck out," coach Craig Berube said. "We are not doing a very good job of it, and we end up spending too much time in our own end."

Philadelphia has outscored Boston 8-3 in the last two matchups, both at home. Marchand didn't record a point in either game and has three assists in his last six meetings.

He has three goals and four assists in 13 all-time regular-season matchups, but had four goals and two assists in the Bruins' sweep of the Flyers in the 2011 Eastern Conference semifinals.

Philadelphia right wing Matt Read has three goals and one assist in his last four games against the Bruins.

Mason is 3-0-1 with a 1.47 GAA in four career matchups versus Boston. Bruins top goaltender Tuukka Rask is 1-5-0 with a 2.92 GAA in his last seven meetings with the Flyers, including the postseason.

Boston defenseman Dougie Hamilton (concussion) and center Chris Kelly (broken right fibula) are expected to travel with the team during a two-game trip that ends Monday against the New York Islanders, but defenseman Adam McQuaid (leg) is not expected to travel to Philadelphia.
