New-look Penguins ready for chemistry
March 29, 2013
PITTSBURGH (AP) - The additions of Jarome Iginla, Brenden Morrow and Doug Murray have turned the Pittsburgh Penguins into the Stanley Cup favorites.
It's also turned coach Dan Bylsma into a scientist. Bylsma will spend the next month trying to figure out what combinations work best. It's unlikely he'll mess with the top line of Sidney Crosby, Chris Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis. Crosby leads the NHL in scoring, with Kunitz a surprising second.
The Penguins understand the experimenting may put an end to their 14-game winning streak, the third-longest in NHL history. Crosby says the team can weather some bumpy nights now for success in the playoffs.
Iginla, acquired in a late-night trade Wednesday, still hasn't arrived in Pittsburgh. It's unlikely he would be available for Saturday's game against the New York Islanders.
