More than 120 NHL players are expected to compete in the XXII Olympic Winter Games from Sochi, Russia while the league takes a break for 2 ½ weeks from Feb. 9 to Feb. 26. Players first participated in the Olympics for the 1998 Nagano Games. The hockey tournament begins on Feb. 12 and the Gold Medal Game will be played on Feb. 23.
Canada won the 2010 Olympics from Vancouver and has been tabbed the favorite for the 2014 Olympics. The United States finished second.
