Streaky Teams
Wins and Losses Streak Over/Under Streak
Boston 7-1-1 past nine games overall Florida Under 5-2 past seven overall
New Jersey 4-0-0 past four games overall Minnesota Under 5-2 past seven overall
Vancouver 1-7-1 past nine games overall Tampa Bay Over 7-3 past 10 overall

Cannot Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks started out surprisingly well with 13 points out of a possible 20 across their first 10 games, including three road wins at Buffalo, Minnesota and Ottawa, and stunning home wins against Edmonton and Washington. However, they're struggling lately, winning just once over the past nine games dating back to Dec. 5. The Canucks has also won just once over the past seven road outingsdating back to their huge upset in Pittsburgh as +175 underdogs. The 'over' has been the play for Vancouver, too, going 7-1 across the past eight outings.

Philling Up the Win Column
The Metropolitan Division is one of the most competitive divisions in the NHL, if not THE most competitive. The Philadelphia Flyers find themselves in the basement despite the fact they're 15-13-8 with 38 points. The last place team in the Atlantic Division has 25 points (Sabres), and the Pacific Division basement dwellers have 21 points (Coyotes). Only the Central Division rivals the Metro in terms of competitiveness lately. The Flyers do not appear like they want to be in the basement for long, as they have pieced together an impressive 7-2-1 mark over the past 10 outings.

Looking Ahead

Wednesday, December 27

The NHL emerges from the holiday break, so everyone should be well rested.

The Senators could use even more rest, as they are just 1-11 over their past 12 road games, and 7-19 across their past 26 games overall. The Sens are also just 1-5 across their past six against winning teams, and 0-4 in their past four on the road against teams with a winning home record. On the flip side, the Bruins (-200) are 4-0 over their past four outings while going 9-2 across their past 11 against Eastern Conference foes. They're also 6-2 in the past eight against teams at home, while going 4-1 in their past five one three or more days of rest. However, the Sens have dominated this series lately, going 10-2 in the past 12 meetings, including 6-0 in their past six trips to Beantown. The road team is a perfect 4-0 in the past four in this series.

The Blue Jackets head east on Interstate 70 to battle the Penguins in the Steel City. Columbus has posted a dismal 1-5 mark over their past six road games, but they're 9-0 in their past nine games when playing on more than three days of rest. For whatever reason Columbus enjoys games on Wednesday, going 8-3 in their past 11 on Hump Day. The Penguins are 2-5 in their past seven overall, but they're 8-2 in their past 10 when skating on three or more days of rest. Columbus has had a bear of a time trying to solve the Penguins, going 5-17 in their past 22 trips to Pittsburgh, while going 1-6 in the past seven meetings overall. The home team has cashed in 16 of the past 21 in this series.

Thursday, December 28
The Flyers look to stay hot in Sunrise against the Panthers. Philadelphia hasn't had a lot of success on the road, going 13-31 over their past 44 away from the City of Brotherly love. However, they're 4-1 in their past five working on three or more days of rest, and they're 4-1 in the past five playing against teams with a losing overall record. The Panthers have dropped nine of their past 12 against Metropolitan Division foes, and they have dropped four in a row against the Flyers. The 'under' is 14-6-1 in the past 21 meetings in this series.

The Flames are hoping their inconsistent play does not continue. They managed to win just once over their past six against a team with a winning record, while going 1-4 in their past five road outings against a team with a winning home mark. The Sharks were hot before the break, going 5-1 in their past six at home, while hitting four in a row at home against teams with a winning road record. The 'under' has dominated for both sides lately, going 8-0 in Calgary's past eight against teams with a winning record, and 5-1 in their past six overall. The under is also 4-1 in their past five road outings. For San Jose, the under is 19-8 in their past 27 overall, and 4-1-3 in their past eight working on three or more days of rest. The under is also 4-1-2 in the past seven meetings in this series.

Friday, December 29
The Flames travel to meet the Ducks, and they finally snapped that ugly losing skid in Anaheim earlier in the season. Mike Smith stopped 43 shots en route to a 2-0 shutout win back on Oct. 9, snapping a 25-game winless drought for the Flames at Honda Center against the Ducks. The drought lasted from Jan. 19, 2004 to Oct. 9, 2017, which is just unfathomable. Anaheim has been spinning its wheels lately, going 2-1 in their past homestand, but just 5-4-1 across their past 10 overall at home. Perhaps the Flames can start a new kind of streak with a second consecutive win in Anaheim.

Saturday, December 30
The Wild and Predators battle in the second end of a home-and-home set in what is a shockingly light Saturday night, usually a busy day in the NHL. There are just six games, but the Minnesota-Nashville match is a very important one. The Predators are looking to avenge a 6-4 loss in St. Paul back on Nov. 16 in the most recent meeting. The Predators emerge from the holiday break with wins in four of their past five road games, and they're 41-19 in their past 60 against Western Conference teams, too. Meanwhile, the Wild limped into the break with just one win over their past five outings, although they had won five of their past six games at home, while going 4-6 over their past 10 games on the road.

The Kings and Canucks square off in Vancouver, with the home team looking to get untracked. It will be hard against a Kings team that is seeking revenge. Vancouver won 3-2 at Staples Center in the first meeting between these sides back on Nov. 14. If recent history is any indication, the Kings might be putting in some overtime. Four of their final eight games before the holiday break were decided in overtime, with the Kings going 3-1 in those four outings. Overall the Kings are 5-4 in overtime, and a perfect 2-0 in the shootout. The Canucks might not want to see the extra sessions, as they're a dismal 1-3 in overtime this season, and 0-2 in the shootout.
