Struggling Arsenal ties Fulham in Premier League

LONDON (AP) - Manchester United scored three unanswered goals for a 3-2 win at Aston Villa, and Arsenal squandered a two-goal lead in a 3-3 draw against Fulham in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Javier Hernandez scored twice and Ron Vlaar's own goal completed the turnaround that put United four points clear of Chelsea in the standings. Chelsea hosts Liverpool on Sunday.

``We did put pressure on ourselves today but we came through it,'' United manager Alex Ferguson said. ``The lesson is we need to do better defensively. I admire the tenacity of the performance, though. When they need to do it, they do it.''

At Arsenal, Mikel Arteta had a penalty saved in stoppage time and the draw prolonged the north London team's worst start to a league season since Arsene Wenger took charge in 1996.

Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski put Arsenal ahead, but Dimitar Berbatov and Alex Kacaniklic responded to make it a 2-2 tie at halftime. Berbatov put Fulham ahead from the penalty spot after the break, and Giroud tied it with his second goal.

Everton beat Sunderland 2-1 to remain in fourth and ahead of West Bromwich Albion, which won at Wigan by the same score.

Queens Park Rangers lost 1-0 at Stoke, Southampton and Swansea played to a 1-1 draw, while Reading played a scoreless tie against Norwich.

MILAN (AP) - Fabio Quagliarella had three goals and Juventus rebounded from its first Serie A loss in two seasons with a 6-1 victory over Pescara.

Arturo Vidal and Quagliarella put Juventus in front before Emmanuel Cascione got Pescara on the board. But a sensational overhead kick from Kwadwo Asamoah and goals by Sebastian Giovinco and Quagliarella gave Juventus five scores in the first half of a Serie A match for the first time since 1947.

Quagliarella completed his hat trick eight minutes into the second half with an overhead kick, ruining Pescara goalkeeper Mattia Perin's 20th birthday.

``It's the first hat trick of my career, so I will treasure the match ball,'' Quagliarella said. ``I dedicate the goals to my mother, who is in hospital after undergoing surgery.''

Serie A leader Juventus moved four points clear of Inter Milan, which plays Atalanta on Sunday. Inter beat Juventus a week ago to end Juve's 49-match unbeaten run.

Earlier, Cagliari was held to a goalless draw at home by Catania.

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) - Expected to struggle this season, Real Zaragoza and Rayo Vallecano showed their mettle by fighting back from two-goal deficits to record victories and move into the top half of the Spanish league.

Zaragoza routed 10-man Deportivo La Coruna 5-3 at Romareda Stadium, while Rayo edged 10-man Celta Vigo 3-2 for its second straight win.

``We rebounded to win like the great teams do,'' Zaragoza coach Manolo Jimenez said.

Zaragoza languished in the relegation zone for most of last season before barely avoiding the drop.

American defender Oguchi Onyewu played his first league game for Malaga, playing the whole way in a 2-1 loss to visiting Real Sociedad.

League leader Barcelona visits Mallorca on Sunday before second-place Atletico Madrid hosts Getafe. Real Madrid is at Levante, while Valencia visits Valladolid and Sevilla plays Athletic Bilbao.

BERLIN (AP) - Bayern Munich maintained its record-setting pace in the Bundesliga by topping Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 at home for a 10th win in 11 games.

Franck Ribery scored in the first half and David Alaba sealed the win in the 77th minute after Vadim Demidov was whistled for bringing down Bastian Schweinsteiger. Television replays showed the Bayern midfielder went down under minimal contact.

``The penalty, which wasn't a penalty, was decisive,'' Frankfurt coach Armin Veh said. ``Unfortunately we weren't rewarded for the effort we showed. But we also played against an opponent which is playing in another league.''

Bayern has scored 32 goals and conceded only four, a new differential record after 11 rounds. Jupp Heynckes' side has 30 points, also a record at this stage in the Bundesliga.

Second-place Schalke rallied to beat Werder Bremen 2-1 and stay seven points behind. Defending champion Borussia Dortmund posted a 3-1 win at Augsburg, but remains 11 points behind Bayern.

GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) - Aberdeen beat St. Mirren 4-1 to pull into a tie with Celtic for the top spot in the Scottish Premier League.

Aberdeen has played two more games than Celtic.

Financially troubled Hearts posted a 1-1 draw at Inverness after Marius Zaliukas scored a 90th-minute penalty kick. Hearts warned that this might have been its last away match. The club recently announced it could be forced out of business by the end of the month because of an unpaid tax bill of around $720,000.

---

AMSTERDAM (AP) - American Jozy Altidore scored to help AZ Alkmaar to a 2-2 draw at Den Haag. It was Altidore's ninth Dutch league goal of the season and 12th overall.

---

PARIS (AP) - Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his eighth goal of the season as Saint-Etienne beat lowly Troyes 2-0 in the French league.

Free-scoring Valenciennes ran its total to 13 goals in four matches and climbed to fourth with a 3-2 victory against Bastia. Valenciennes has the same point total as Saint-Etienne, which has a better goal difference.
